Lake Highlands creek lot

We chose this midcentury styled home in Lake Highlands if for no other selfish reason than to admire and study the sellers’ keen eye for layering decor. Good for you, the house is pretty fantastic too as this weekend’s Saturday $800k.

Located in Lake Highlands near Royal Lane and Abrams Road, this 1981-built two-story home has four bedrooms, three and half-baths, and 3,622 square feet of contemporary comfort. Beautiful tall mature trees shade the crisp white facade of the Viewside Drive home, built on one-third acre nestled among lush landscaping and canopy trees lining the cul de sac street.

Svetlana Grujic with Compass has an eye for design. In fact, her head-turning listings are garnering attention and selling quick! Case in point — our Friday Five Hundred from last week is already pending. But do not fret! She has a new property in up for grabs that is equally impressive. So much so, we couldn’t help but share it with you right away.

Sometimes the wait for a brand new home feels like an eternity. From picking out finishes to the actual finish-out, the finish line almost always feels out of reach. And then when you move in, there’s still the adjustment period where you work out the details.

Not so with our High Caliber Home of the Week, a gorgeous like new David Weekley build inside the highly rated Lake Highlands Elementary attendance area inside Richardson ISD. Truly, 8666 Fanellanwood Place is better than new, thanks to the seller — David Griffin Realtor Micky Carr.

“I was one of the first owners to move into this little gated enclave of about 80 homes, The Villas of Lake Highlands,” he said. “It was one of David Weekley’s first close-in, more urban developments in Dallas.”

And it looks incredible. We know that Micky has an eye for updates and details, as we’ve featured one of his recent projects and personal homes on Gaston Ave.

Lake Highlands updated contemporary

The great-looking house at 9202 Whitehurst Drive is one of those homes that I pass by often and wonder what it’s like inside. From the big bay windows, you can catch a good glimpse inside, but even better, Paige Poupart of Compass has listed this Lake Highlands updated contemporary at $625,000. Let’s peek inside.

There are two ways you probably know this week’s featured Saturday Seven Hundred home located at 8580 Abrams Road in northeast Dallas. One, you’ve been following the story about State Representative Victoria Neave’s delinquent back taxes for her 7,606-square-foot home. Or two, you live in Lake Highlands and have always wondered what’s the deal with that newish modern house on Abrams near Starbucks that stands alone in style and orientation. (more…)

I’m becoming more and more convinced that Lake Highlands is the best place to live in Dallas. One of the larger neighborhoods in East Dallas, Lake Highlands offers natural beauty, good schools, great shopping, and short commute times. It’s had its own renaissance in the past decade, with Lake Highlands Town Center getting closer to completion and more businesses investing in this arboreal enclave.

However, as the tide of Lake Highlands has risen, so have property values for single-family homes in the area. Finding a home in Lake Highlands in the $200,000 range is hard enough, but finding something cheaper than that? Almost impossible.

However, there are still plenty of great condos in Lake Highlands that offer amenities, location, and more. Here’s one, in particular, that shines:
