I hear this refrain over and over again from my peers looking to downsize out of larger homes: there is nothing available to downsize into.

Well, drop what you are doing on Wednesday evening and come check out Bentley Place, an eight-villa luxury environment featuring the best floor plans I have seen in decades, in a super wonderful part of town: Greenway Parks. The architect behind the concept is the brilliant Alan Ross, principal of Waal architecture.
I’m talking walkable to that Tom Thumb/Simon David store on Inwood, Inwood National Bank, and Trader Joe’s at Lover’s and Inwood. The theater is near, and you are about a 10 minute Uber ride at most from Love Field.

You want the master down? Done! You want an elevator to drag luggage and holiday decor out? Bingo. You want multiple living spaces so you can still entertain like a pro? Got ’em. And who wants to give up outdoor entertaining when you give up your big backyard?

Bentley Place offers four floor plans with extensive customization possibilities, including that downstairs master. The gourmet kitchen opens sesame and is visible to the living and dining area, adjacent to a large outdoor living space perfect for al fresco dining — something buyers want in their home. And the appliances are a chef’s dream. There are even bars in these models, because guess what, I like beer, girls like beer, boys like beer.

(Sorry, got carried away there…)

We have a soft spot for architect Charles Dilbeck, and we have a special affinity for the Greenway Parks neighborhood, so we’re excited to bring you our Inwood House of the Week at 5522 Waneta Drive today. The neighborhood is built in a traditional English manner, with houses surrounding a parkway, which the Brits refer to as a “commons.” One of the best aspects of this is that it affords an architect the opportunity to create two facades, one facing the greenbelt and the other facing the street. This home is a Charles Dilbeck Spanish Colonial Revival, and an excellent example of a double facade house. (more…)

Greenway Parks has earned acclaim from architects and loyalty from its residents. Allie Beth Allman Realtor Maribeth Peters explains why.

Greenway Parks is one of those neighborhoods you never want to leave, and frankly that’s why it can be challenging to find a home here. With approximately 300 houses, which are often passed down from one generation to the next, it’s often hard for a newcomer to get a foot in the proverbial door.

The neighborhood is full of architecturally significant homes in every imaginable style, from Charles Dilbeck’s Spanish Eclectic to Max Levy’s cutting-edge modernist.

Greenway Parks is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Dallas, and it is going through a major transformation right now,” Maribeth Peters of Allie Beth Allman & Associates said. “This renaissance consists of new construction and major remodeling of existing historic homes. Since Greenway Parks was designated a Conservation District in 2003, all architectural plans must be reviewed by the city, but that has not slowed the neighborhood evolution.”
