Yes, I’m biased because I’ve called Hollywood Heights home for decades. This charming neighborhood has the largest collection of stone-embellished Tudor cottages in America, but charm is not the biggest draw. It’s the most inviting, friendly, and active neighborhood you could possibly find in Dallas.
There is a legendary Easter Parade (now in its 21st year) with a street party that draws hundreds of people. Neighbor Liz Simmons chooses either Halloween or Christmas each year to take her home decorations to a level that is both wacky and enchanting. There are chili cook-offs, holiday parties, a margarita contest, and one of the best home tours in Dallas. Every street has a particular character, and so many have dedicated street events like the Hammond Avenue Fantasy Football Mile Run and Super Bowl Party. The loser of the fantasy football league has to run the Hammond Avenue one-mile race, which is timed and requires beer drinking at each quarter-mile point.
Lindsley Park is a daily delight, where every kiddo learns to climb the big tree, and the neighborhood is zoned to Lakewood Elementary. The Samuell-Grand Recreation Center and Tenison Park Golf Course are a two-minute drive across Grand Avenue. You will find plenty of Hollywood Heights neighbors playing tennis, pickleball, and going to Tai Chi or line dancing classes. This is not a neighborhood where people pull into a garage and scamper inside. Not at all. Neighbors stop and chat. Everyone is out with kids and walking dogs. Neighbors regularly get together to go to dinner, head to a movie, or take one another to doctor appointments. It’s that kind of neighborhood.

This offers a lot of room for entertainment to flow from the porch to the fire pit.
