A $10M Texas Modern Could Have You Trading Horse Tales With Celebs

If you buy this $10-million Texas Modern, you just might catch a glimpse of Taylor Sheridan. You know, the guy who co-created the Yellowstone series? You also might spot one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and a famous model or two. But, no promises. What I can promise, however, is that this is an absolute stunner of a Texas Modern in Silverado on the Brazos. It hit the market on Friday.

Silverado on the Brazos is a private, luxury, equestrian community south of Weatherford, about 45 minutes from Fort Worth. It’s been one of the go-to neighborhoods for horse lovers for two decades, with an excellent equestrian center, riding trails, and access to the Brazos River. It’s basically paradise.
The quiet community has gotten a lot of attention since writer and director Taylor Sheridan bought the famous 6666 Ranch a few years ago. It’s three hours away, but in Texas terms, that’s just “down the road a piece.” He also owns Bosque Ranch in Weatherford, which, at only three minutes away from Silverado on the Brazos, is what we Texans call spittin’ distance.
So it’s not out of the question that you might run across him or one of the other Silverado celebs browsing the goods at Teskey’s Saddle Shop. But remember, this is horse country, where no one pays much attention to celebrities; they pay attention to horses.

Mary Beth Ruckman grew up in Wisconsin as your typical horse-loving girl, and that passion continued to grow. She and her husband Tim have about 25 horses now. They love watching competitions and got into Quarter Horse breeding. They were familiar with the area, having owned a nearby ranch. When it was time for a change, Silverado on the Brazos was a logical fit. They found a house that was a short stroll to the Brazos with stunning sunset views on just over six acres. Unfortunately, you could not see those views from the existing home.
“It was almost as if it was built not to take advantage of the view, so we started to tear out walls,” Mary Beth said. With a 180-degree view of the river from the back of the house, an expanse of floor-to-ceiling windows and doors in the grand room is now the magnificent focal point.

This is not Mary Beth’s first design rodeo. She recently received a prestigious award for designing the a home in Belize. So when it came to this 5,550-square-foot Texas Modern, she had a vision. The home was created with entertaining in mind. The couple wanted to ensure it was not only beautiful but also warm and inviting.
”One thing I’ve noticed is that Mary Beth loves playing with textures,” Tim said. “She always has the right mixture of stone and wood.”

The kitchen is a prime example of that perfect mix.
“When I saw the marble for the kitchen, I knew that was it,” Mary Beth said. “I found the wood piece that separates the kitchen from the dining room in Arizona. We were out antiquing one day, ran across it, and we loved it. It was originally purchased for our first house in Texas, but when we started remodeling this one, I thought that space was perfect for it.”

That attention to textural detail is especially notable in the principal suite. The lighted, multiple-barreled ceiling is made of stone and reclaimed barn wood from Canada.

The main home has four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and an office with a secret safe room. The property also has a 3,000-square-foot barndominium. These have become a sought-after feature since Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Fixer Upper TV series popularized the concept. The structure already existed, but the Ruckmans gutted it and added a full-size theater room with a wet bar and a one-bedroom apartment.

The views, as I mentioned, are everything here, and the entire property is now designed to take advantage of them. An infinity-edge pool overlooks the Brazos River. There are two outdoor kitchens, a fire pit, and multiple patios. The Ruckmans have also enjoyed the perk of having two boathouses.

This Texas Modern is one of those rare properties that offers privacy, serenity, and beauty, and you can hang your hat on that!
