Farmers Branch

Although Farmers Branch is truly the best-kept secret in Dallas right now, back in the 1840s, it was the best-known city in Texas. That’s due to the Texan Emigration and Land Company. They took over the Peters Colony in 1844, advertised extensively in Europe, and attracted thousands to settle here. These settlers were astute enough to secure the right-of-way through their land, ensuring the railroad’s arrival in Farmers Branch, making it a bustling trading stop and the most popular settlement in Texas. So let me re-introduce you to Farmers Branch and why it’s still the most desirable place to live and show you the most beautiful luxury home here!

Farmers Branch is HOT!

Why are we just now realizing that Farmers Branch is the hot new suburb? Is it time for another international advertising campaign? Maybe, but meanwhile, I’ll just let you in on everything I’ve discovered and why you need to take a serious look at Farmers Branch for your next move. And in particular, why you need to check out this gorgeous new home by John Huffman of JH Design + Build.

Get to Know JH Design + Build

If you are not familiar with JH Design + Build, Huffman took renowned architect Hardy McCullah’s modernist home to a new level for NBA superstar Luka Dončić in 2020. Since then, JH Design + Build has concentrated on new construction with a particular focus on one-story homes, which is brilliant.

One-story homes offer a more convenient and accessible living space, with all the essential rooms on the same level. This is particularly appealing for families with young children or older family members. Think about it. Everyone wants the principal, guest, and younger children’s bedrooms on the first floor. The second story is generally relegated to teenagers who are there for a few years and move out. Then it’s just unused space. Everyone wants a single-story lifestyle right now, and it’s hard to find. In fact, this gorgeous Farmers Branch contemporary is the only house in Dallas County that is one story new construction right now!

“I build one-story homes because everyone wants one,” Huffman said. “The cost of getting the home to the homeowner is 50 to 70% greater a mile south of Farmers Branch. If buyers are looking at value, location, and proximity, Farmers Branch is the new frontier, and they will understand what they are getting here.”

The open kitchen features Subzero Wolf appliances, Belmont cabinets, and a separate bar with two wine fridges.

Huffman knows what he’s talking about because he lives in Farmers Branch.

“City services are immaculate,” he said. “You never wait more than 24 hours for anything to be addressed. It’s family-friendly, and highways flank you, so you can get anywhere easily.”

Farmers Branch also has 28 parks, an aquatics center, a water park, and its own police department!

It was a logical move to start building homes here. Huffman’s latest has everything a family could want and is extremely well thought-out. He’s placed the primary and an executive guest suite on the left side with children’s rooms on the right beyond the living area and has been thoughtful about the line of sight.

With 5,032 square feet, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a powder bath, there is plenty of room and flexibility. Location and functionality matter to Huffman, and it’s easy to see that in unexpected places like the laundry area. It’s enormous with plenty of cabinet space, an icemaker, room for a second fridge, and it easily can double as a catering kitchen. Huffman even added flex space with a mini fridge and sink that would be perfect for a gym or media room.

Another unique aspect of this home is that it sits on just over half an acre. It has a large covered terrace featuring a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen with an island and built-in heaters. All of this overlooks the pool, spa, and huge grassy lawn.

The home features garage parking for four cars.

“Livability and quality matters and more consumers are understanding what that looks like,” Huffman said. “They want a generous area in a safe neighborhood for their families to grow.”
