This Modern East Kessler Home Is a Sign That Summer Is Heating Up

Who says the summer real estate market is slow? David Griffin keeps listing standout East Kessler gems that are nothing short of a slice of heaven, and buckle up because we have another one for you. It’s this week’s Highlight Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters, Senior Loan Officer with First Horizon.
Set on a graceful hilltop, this 4,743-square-foot four-bedroom steals the show on a beautiful, wide-laned, tree-lined street. The home was built by Philip McCasland and designed by Larson & Pedigo Architects, one of two built side by side on Eastus Drive in East Kessler.
An aerial shot (below) shows the home surrounded by trees and in excellent proximity to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and downtown nearby. The street is known for its wide variety of exotic bird life, which the owners say is likely because the founder of the Dallas World Aquarium has a home nearby with an outdoor aviary.

The front of the home features a stunning glass entry — really a wall of windows all along the front, both in the dining room to the right and the living room to the left. This creates both fantastic views and wonderful light throughout the home. The home also comes equipped with a Savant video doorbell that allows you to monitor from anywhere in the world and a six-camera smart security system.

The dining room is one of my favorite spaces in the house. Elegant wide-plank white oak floors, which continue throughout the home, anchor the space, topped by soaring ceilings with exposed beams and a stunning light fixture.
“You have museum-quality spaces that just happen to be living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms,” Griffin said, and I couldn’t agree more.

In the kitchen, sleek walnut cabinetry takes center stage in a kitchen with all the bells and whistles. Stainless steel appliances include a side-by-side built-in refrigerator-freezer, five-burner gas cooktop, and double ovens. There’s a wonderful built-in bar and wine fridge, great for entertaining. The spacious kitchen opens to the family room, all of which is lined by more floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking a central courtyard and pool.

The family room is open to the kitchen and has walnut built-in bookshelves and steps leading up to the primary suite. A Savant Pro home automation system controls the home’s lighting, draperies, thermostats, indoor and outdoor audio, video, fans, doors, cameras, and security through a Savant app on your phone, tablet, or wall-mounted controls. It also has a Lutron lighting system.

The courtyard and pool sit in the center of the U-shaped home, creating a completely private outdoor space. Ideal for entertaining and everyday enjoyment, it is easily accessible from the main areas of the home and the primary suite. In the second photo, you can see the steps to the patio just outside the primary bedroom.

The elegant primary bedroom suite is just a few steps above the living areas and views the pool from its raised balcony. Its bath is just what you would suspect with marble finishes, dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a separate shower.

There are three additional bedrooms, each with en suite baths, on the second floor. The bedroom pictured here is currently in use as an office and has a huge wall of windows. Griffin said it’s one of his favorite rooms in the home. Electronic shades appear throughout the home, while the primary suite is also equipped with blackout shades.

Here’s a fun one: this closet in one of the secondary bedrooms is currently in use as a massage room. That lets you know how spacious the closets are! And truly, the rooms here are all generous.
“Nothing feels tight in this house,” said Griffin.
In the summertime, especially July, things tend to get a little dull in the real estate world. People go on vacation, buying and selling slows down. Not so this July, says David Griffin. And if the home at 1510 Eastus is evidence of what’s on the market right now, then we could be in for an exciting July indeed.
David Griffin with David Griffin and Company Realtors has 1510 Eastus Drive listed for $2.5 million.
