I always enjoy speaking to broker David Griffin of David Griffin & Company Realtors, first, because he’s a genuinely nice guy, but second, because he has such a passion for what he does. I love the way he talks about the homes he represents. We had great fun discussing today’s home because Griffin is something of an aesthete and enjoys talking about beautiful things. Today’s Highlight Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters, Senior Loan Officer with First Horizon is a study in beautiful things.

A stunning modern design built into a hillside, the home at 2207 Kessler Woods Court was designed by Dallas architect Patrick Hammers. Hammers designed this and several other of the original homes in the uniquely beautiful gated community of Kessler Woods. If you’re not familiar with Kessler Woods, it’s worth a drive through one of Dallas’ most architecturally significant neighborhoods. You will see some beautifully unique homes, but the neighborhood itself is a wonder of mature trees, winding streets, and creeks.

The hillside home has an elegant exterior, blending well with the nature that surrounds it. Mature trees and lovely landscaping encircle the grounds while oversized limestone stairs lead to the front entry. A charming front patio greets guests — a lovely spot to enjoy drinks and a view, and a first taste of what a wonderful entertaining house this is.

Inside, the kitchen reveals an ingenious layout. In the second image here, you can see there are rooms beyond the counter — you step down into the dining area, then step down again into the living area. Each room is separated by a wood banquette or functional piece.

Then, just take a moment to appreciate the quality and variety of materials in just this area alone — travertine floors and rift-cut oak. Griffin said, “These are materials that are eternal. Nothing will ever be dated.”

The next level is the dining area, with a large space for versatile seating and beautiful rift-cut oak built-in cabinetry. The walls throughout the space are ideal for art. The home has a Lutron lighting system, and Griffin pointed out that much of this space has clerestory windows, which also provide excellent light for art.

Here we have my favorite living room ever. Griffin describes this as a “majestic space with an almost double volume ceiling, a brick-faced fireplace wall and floor-to-ceiling honey colored oak paneling.” Next to the floor-to-ceiling windows with that view, I can’t decide whether the fireplace or the paneled banquette is my favorite. I would lounge there with a good book by the fire and that view and never leave. And this room for entertaining? Stunning.

This is the view looking back from the living room toward the kitchen. Again the placement of windows, the layout, the selection of materials, textures is so on point. This home is just a feast for the senses.

“People have different ideas of what luxurious means. Bringing nature in and engaging with it in beautiful ways. Using materials in this way. This is luxury.”

The home also has a second, cozy living area that opens to the front patio area. A great space for watching TV or a cozy game night. The built-in bookcase is a fabulous addition here.

Also on this floor is a third bedroom, which is currently in use as an exercise room — a clever use of the space since it opens through a glass door to the pool and has an ensuite bath with a steam shower.

Speaking of exercise, this isn’t just a great way to cool off in the summer; it’s also a swim-against-the-tide pool, for those who like to get their laps in.

We’ve been on something of a roll with amazing primary suites lately, and this one is no exception. You could have an entire living area on the balcony off the bedroom. And … in the bath … and in the closet. The woodwork alone in the bedroom is exceptional. The balcony has its own fireplace, making for wonderful evenings by the fire under the stars. I mentioned to Griffin that the bath and closet remind me of a five-star hotel, and he said, “Definitely White Lotus.” IYKYK.

Homes come up in Kessler Woods don’t come along often, and when they do, it’s an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. This. Is. Luxury.

David Griffin of David Griffin & Company Realtors has 2207 Kessler Woods Court listed for $2.35 million.
