Even Santa and Mrs. Claus are Downsizing in 2025 and Their North Pole Cabin Is on the Market

downsizing, Santa Claus, Christmas

The song that best encapsulates the act of selling your home and moving is “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash. At one point during the song, the lead singer just screams. If that doesn’t capture downsizing then I do not know what does. Let’s look at some lyrics.

“This indecision’s bugging me
If you don’t want me, set me free
Exactly whom I’m supposed to be
Don’t you know which clothes even fit me?
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it, or should I blow?”

There is nothing better than listening to an English punk rock band as you try to decide if the dog’s fifth favorite food bowl gets packed and moved or is it time for it to blow? Our very own publisher, Candy Evans, spent the better part of this year packing and selling her dream home of 25 years and downsizing to a home in Lake Forest.

You know who else has entered the world of downsizing? Santa and Mrs. Claus. No doubt they are doing some headbanging to The Clash as they sell their North Pole home.

Welcome to a magical North Pole retreat nestled on 25 idyllic acres. Zillow is offering this sneak peek into Santa and Mrs. Claus’s one-of-a-kind dwelling, listed by Elf Estates, the Enchanted Realty Specialists. Built in 1822 with a little more than 2,000 square feet, the Claus cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms set on two levels.

Inside these log cabin walls, you’ll discover a cozy storybook abode brimming with warmth and charm. The open-concept living room boasts a grand hearth, adorned with stockings hung by the chimney with care. Let’s head over to the kitchen and see what snacks Mrs. Claus has whipped up.

Of course, the dear lady baked some cookies. The kitchen is a delight, with a custom refrigerator and stainless steel oven, perfect for whipping up batches of gingerbread cookies.

If it’s been a long day and you want to skip the cookies, then there is a dedicated hot cocoa bar and candy cane dispenser for your pleasure.

Upstairs, you will find Santa’s office and mailroom. Undoubtedly, this is where the infamous naughty and nice list gets put together. Also located upstairs are the two bedrooms.

While the guest bedroom has recently been converted into a gift-wrapping room for items that need a little extra care, it can easily be converted back to a bedroom.

Drift off to dream-filled sleep in the snug primary bedroom, complete with its own fireplace and en-suite bathroom.

Santa and Mrs. Claus keep a tidy home because at 2,000 square feet, they still have plenty of room for a dining room table for six as well as space for storage.

As a bonus, there is a special entrance for visitors to use.
