Gravitas National Title Makes Every Closing a Celebration

Builders, designers, Realtors — of course, you shop around. But title companies? Most people just shrug. Big mistake. Spend an hour with Kerry Maguire and Leslie Hoy — President and Business Development Director of Gravitas National Title — and you’ll see just how different the right team can be.

First things first: these ladies are fun. We’re talking new best-friend kind of fun. (More on that later.) But here’s the bottom line — Kerry and company are relentless about detail. In less than three years, Gravitas National Title has surpassed $600 million in closings, protecting clients’ investments with meticulous research, expert guidance, and seamless execution.

What drives that level of care? A simple philosophy.

“The customer is always right, without a doubt,” said Kerry.

“We go above and beyond to deliver on that promise and to earn their lasting trust.”

The Gravitas team — Caroline Talbott, Kerry Maguire, Macy Spurgin, Molly Maguire, and Nina Zamora.

Equally defining is GNT’s expertise in both the commercial and residential markets. With over 60 years of combined experience and an insider’s grasp of development and construction, the team offers more than transactional support — they deliver strategic perspective. Clients gain a partner who anticipates challenges, uncovers opportunities, and shapes plans that succeed not just on paper, but in practice.

A bit of background: the title company, launched in March 2023, was the brainchild of Kerry’s brother, Kip Sowden, CEO of RREAF Holdings. Alongside Gravitas’ other entities — Realty, Construction, Aviation, and Charters— it broadened the company’s reach, adding another essential service under the Gravitas umbrella.

The Sowden family are supporters of Klyde Warren Park.

“When Kip saw the chance to build a boutique, service-driven title company, he kept saying, ‘You’re going to come over.’ Finally, I did,” said Kerry, who previously owned and ran fashion and bookkeeping companies. “Family means everything to me.”

Creative marketing — infused with the aforementioned fun — has been instrumental in fueling growth.

“For us, it always comes back to relationships,” said Leslie, a native Dallasite whose lifelong connections continue to drive the business forward.

GNT-sponsored Realtor events build awareness and good will.
“Gravitas sponsors fun networking opportunities like pickleball at Brookhollow Country Club,” said Dave Perry-Miller agent Jane Gordon.

Realtor gatherings — ranging from happy hours and pickleball tournaments to continuing-education opportunities — have built a loyal following. Allie Beth Allman agent KJ Murphy is a huge supporter. “The events they host are not only fun — they’re efficient.”

Last month, she invited GNT to sponsor a contract class at one of her listings. “All Realtors were welcome. Attendees not only toured a hot property, they earned CE credit and got a fab box lunch.”

Kerry added, “We had them in and out in an hour and a half —  a win for everybody.”

Macy Spurgin and Leslie Hoy welcome guests to GNT’s continuing education luncheon.

The GNT team also plays an active role in the Marinelle & Kip Sowden Foundation, dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for young people across Texas. Its support includes partnerships with Klyde Warren Park Foundation, Mercy Street, and ForgeNow plus more than 20 scholarships for first-generation college students.

“We’re not just awarding money. We get to know the kids; we go to their graduation,” said Leslie.

It’s all the little extras — a candy bar in the office, a Mambo Taxi toast — that add up to one all-encompassing experience “At Gravitas, we want every closing to be a celebration,” said Kerry.
