Pass the S’mores — I’m Dreaming of Fall Spent at Cinnamon Shore

I spent Labor Day at home this year, hunched over the kitchen table, helping my son with college essays. If you’ve ever tried to explain the writing technique of “show, don’t tell” to a teenager — especially one with a writer mother who’s itching for the keyboard under her swift fingers — you know it’s not exactly a beach vacation. At one point I caught myself daydreaming about laptops on the beach and figuring out how long an extension cord I’d need from the beach house.

Because honestly, what I really wanted was to be back at Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas. My family loved our time at the beachfront luxury community so much that both my husband and my teenager keep asking when we can go back. And as the 100-degree days wane into cooler temps, I think back to my favorite September trips to the Texas Coast and how fall and the holidays spent at the beach just stick with you.

Cinnamon Shore gets that. They wrapped up the summer season with their annual Labor Day Luau, a family-friendly tradition that brings a little Hawaii to Port A. Picture hula dancers swaying against the backdrop of the Gulf, island-inspired food, and neighbors celebrating together — it’s the kind of send-off to summer that makes you want to book your next trip before you’ve even unpacked your bags.

And the best part? The fun doesn’t stop when school and football season kick in. Cinnamon Shore has a fall calendar full of reasons to head back to the beach. From football watching parties (ahem, Cowboys vs. Chiefs on Thanksgiving) to community s’mores events, they’ve turned long weekends into something worth planning around. (P.S. Who can I talk to in the marketing department to suggest “Cinnamon S’mores” as the official title?)

In October, Beach Boos & BBQ weekend combines smoky flavors with spooky fun. November brings Santa’s First Stop — a coastal kickoff to the holiday season. And if you’re ready to ring in 2026 in unforgettable fashion, their New Year’s Eve Beach Bonfire and Glow Party promises a celebration like no other.

So while I was at home this Labor Day playing editor-in-chief of College Application Weekly, I couldn’t help but picture us writing those essays seaside at Cinnamon Shore. You’ve heard how Caribbean clear the water is right now, haven’t you? I just need that extension cord.
