Three North Texas Realtor associations — including a late addition — could soon unite under one name.

The MetroTex Association of Realtors has called a special membership meeting for July 23 to vote on a proposed merger with the Collin County Area Realtors (CCAR) and the Navarro County Board of Realtors (NCBOR). If approved, the consolidation would bring together more than 20,000 members under the MetroTex name in what leaders say is a move to “strengthen our collective voice in the North Texas real estate community.”

The Navarro County Board of Realtors, which represents about 100 members across Navarro and Limestone counties, was added to the merger proposal more recently. NCBOR is currently managed by Texas REALTORS through its Multi-Board Management (MBM) Services program, which is set to end this year. That pending change prompted the NCBOR board to recommend merging with MetroTex.

“Whether it’s better tools, expanded opportunities, or enhanced support, this proposed merger is all about delivering more of what you need to succeed,” according to Stronger Together, an informative website dedicated to the merger.

CCAR and MetroTex have been hosting member information sessions to answer questions, including a session today for MetroTex members (10 a.m. to noon at MetroTex headquarters) and Collin County members (2 to 4 p.m. at CCAR headquarters).

The in-person vote takes place July 23 at 10 a.m. at the MetroTex office, 1701 Kinwest Pkwy., Irving. Members who can’t attend the meeting in person may cast their secure proxy vote before the meeting date.

Members have been told that 2026 dues and first-quarter MLS fees would default to the lower rate between the two original associations — unless NTREIS adjusts its fee structure.

Discussions around the merger initially began between CCAR and MetroTex. In March, both boards of directors voted to approve a plan of merger and entered a due diligence period. As part of that review, MetroTex enlisted a third-party legal firm to vet the plan, and an April update described the merger as a way to enhance services, provide greater value, and improve regional advocacy efforts.

“By merging the two strongest associations in the region, we hope to take a significant step forward for the real estate industry in North Texas,” MetroTex said in a March news release. “A unified association will wield greater influence in advocacy, provide expanded professional development opportunities, and offer more robust resources to every member.”

Under the proposed agreement, the consolidated organization would retain the MetroTex Association of Realtors name. CCAR’s headquarters in Plano and MetroTex’s office in Irving would remain open, with no layoffs expected.

While the board votes in March set the merger process in motion, final approval hinges on member votes following this due diligence phase and vote on July 23. If members of all three organizations vote in favor, the merger would be formalized through a filing with the Texas Secretary of State.
