Stephen F. Austin Can Be Your Neighbor at This Chic Houston Home

There are times you come across a piece of property and you think, “Yep, that’s Texas.”
While Dallas is the sleek and sexy city with its social scene and high-end shopping, Houston carries more of that traditional Texas lore with Stetsons being worn into the office and the pilgrimages to its yearly livestock show and rodeo.
The largest city in the state, Houston still manages to pull off its swagger, making for an ideal image of a Texan’s Texas. Allow me to show you what I mean.

Chic Houston Home Just a Stone’s Throw From Downtown
I have found the most intriguing new contemporary modern just on the outskirts of downtown that somehow has the feel of not being in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Houston.
Just as intriguing is the park next to this new build. American Statesmanship Park is home to busts of Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston along with two U.S. presidents. Like I said, this home is very much a Texan’s Texas.

Buyers wasted no time snatching up this home. Built in the First Ward Arts District, a cute little neighborhood undergoing revitalization, the construction took two years to complete. The sale is pending.

As you lounge in bed you will feel as though you are tucked away in the woods as the bedrooms overlook some nice greenery. Don’t let it fool you, though. The house also has incredible views of Houston’s massive skyline.

There is an abundance of natural light that floods the home. The only way to describe the living room and kitchen is chic. The flooring is imported porcelain that matches the Carrara marble countertops.

You simply cannot get away from nature here as the house is constructed around a 200-year-old pecan tree. If you are in the mood for pecan pie, and what true Texan would pass up the opportunity for pecan pie, all you have to do is step outside and pick a bushel. Along with a view of the tree from the living room, you also have a view of the neighbors.
The Father of Texas and Two Former Presidents Just Next Door

Not only are Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin the neighbors, but Presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are also located at the American Statesmanship Park.
In case ol’ Sam Houston looks familiar it is because these busts were made by artist David Adickes. Adickes is the sculptor who created “Big Sam,” which is located along Interstate 45. Big Sam can be seen from miles away.

Standing on top of a 10-foot-tall marble pedestal, the statue of Sam Houston is 67 feet high. Now, the busts located in American Statesmanship Park are nowhere near as big. These chaps only stand 18 feet tall on 10-foot pedestals.

RoadSideAmerica.com says American Statesmanship Park has been dubbed “Mount Rush Hour” since it is located at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 45.
The park gives “morning commuters something to look at as they creep into downtown from the northwest suburbs,” according to the website.

Like I said, this home is a vision of a Texan’s Texas right down to the horses in the yard, in the biggest city in the state and neighbors with the first president of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston, and father of Texas himself, Stephen F. Austin.
The only thing left to say is “Yee-Haw!!!”
