The annual Heritage Oak Cliff Home Tour is on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27, and you do not want to miss it! There are 12 amazing properties featured this year and each one is remarkable in its own right. Today we are featuring two stunning Brettonwoods homes on the tour for you to whet your appetites!
2752 Gladiolus Lane
If you were to ever imagine what a dream back yard would look like, 2752 Gladiolus Lane is exactly what you would envision.

On a two acre heavily wooded lot, this 1960’s ranch was transformed to an urban modern chalet-style home in 2009. The renovation reused the terra-cotta toned bricks signature to the Brettonwoods neighborhood adding exterior accents in contrasting dark stained Ipe wood planks.

Ipe is also featured in the entrance boardwalk, front porch, and rear patio decking.

Isn’t this view just ABSOLUTELY stunning?!
When the current owners purchased the home, the interiors were pretty up to date to what you see now, but their signature touch to the home can be seen in the greenery, landscaping, addition of the pool, covered back patio, solar panels, and the zoysia lawn. A rainwater capture system provides all water to maintain the pool, and the solar panels provide 70% of the owner’s electricity requirements, including charging their electric vehicle!

The open plan living takes full advantage of the 15-foot vaulted ceiling with floor to ceiling windows on the north and south walls. Centered on the island kitchen, the living area includes access to the back patio and flows easily between the entrance, sitting, dining, television, bar, and fireplace spaces.

On top of how gorgeous the home is itself, the owners take great pride in maintaining the landscape and greenery. The front yard keeps a natural look with beauty berry and Turk’s cap below the towering elms, contrasting this with butterfly and hummingbird friendly beds leading from the back patio down to the pool and lower deck. With an aim to provide year-round color, new tree plantings have included maples, flowering cherry, Mexican plum and other fruit trees, magnolias, and small groves of sycamores and
buckeyes.

2822 Gladiolus Lane
Like the previous home, looks can be deceiving when you first pull up to 2822 Gladiolus Lane.

Built in 1963, this Midcentury ranch on a massive two-acre lot has been completely transformed. Before the current owners bought the home in 2019, there was only one previous owner. The home looked like you might imagine for a 1960’s home with one owner – wood paneling galore, older carpets, outdated kitchen, laminate floorings, and security bars on the windows.
Fun Fact: DeCarla Anderson, of DeCarla Anderson Real Estate Group, who is the home sponsor for the tour, actually was the selling agent when our current homeowners purchased. Since
connecting with them for the tour, DeCarla has been able to tour the home and is amazed with the stunning transformation.

When you see the home today, it has been refreshed and updated while respecting its Midcentury roots. The original red hue brick façade has been given a facelift with a refreshing white aesthetic, tasteful landscaping, and large inviting windows that bring in natural light.
The interior boasts an open-concept living space with light hardwood floors, minimalist interior finishes, and beautiful sight lines from the front to the back of the home. The modern kitchen has a waterfall edge stone island with seating that integrates with the living area, a custom-made vent hood, and high-end stainless-steel appliances that tie in with the concrete monolith fireplace that anchors the space.

As said earlier, this home is quite deceiving until you step inside and head out back. The design of the home capitalizes on the sloped landscape, integrating multiple levels with patios, a pool, and modern landscaping elements.
The homeowners are allowing guests to see both levels of the home on tour days.

Beyond the pool is lush forestation of multiple types of well-established trees that lead to Crow Creek, comparable to the beautiful treed lot of 2722 Gladiolus.
