Moving On Up: Kips Bay Decorator Show House Announces Turtle Creek Location

If anyone can transform a massive 25,000-square-foot vacant office space into a supremely stylish showplace, our bet is on this year’s crop of Kips Bay designers. The renowned Decorator Show House has finally landed a location: it is moving uptown to 2999 Turtle Creek Blvd. — high-profile commercial real estate with a storied history.
Open to the public for three weeks beginning Friday, Oct. 25, the esteemed, much-anticipated event will once again benefit multiple Dallas philanthropists, including Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit dedicated to creating inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness, and The Crystal Charity Ball, which supports Dallas County children’s charities.
“We rely on our strong relationships as an organization when scouting locations for the Dallas, New York, and Palm Beach show houses,” said Nazira Handal, director of Special Events & Corporate Partnerships at Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. “This year, Vipin Nambiar and the team at HN Capital Partners recommended a site that met all our criteria: a prime location, excellent amenities, strong support, and ample parking.”
Turns out, Kips Bay needed a shining knight
Run-ins about parking and traffic took Old Preston Hollow out of the running. Last spring, Kips Bay representatives and designers Jean Liu and Chad Dorsey scouted East Dallas and the Swiss Avenue area looking for a more historic home and a new neighborhood. Make no mistake: with its prime new location, Kips Bay is back on track.
And the icing on the cake for show-goers: no more shuttle buses. The new location sports 60,000 square feet of underground parking.

In keeping with the neighborhood, the Turtle Creek property has a French Renaissance feel. Tony neighbors include the HN Capital-owned Rosewood Mansion and the future Four Seasons Hotel & Residences.
As for the aforementioned history, builder and real estate mogul John Eulich spent over a decade perfecting the structure. Completed in 2004, it originally housed the developer’s real estate and investment companies, art collection, and former Cipango Club.
Over the years, the property would change hands a few more times. In a highly publicized 2023 ownership dispute, a federal judge ruled against Dallas developer Tim Barton, who had plans to turn the space into a Mandarin Oriental hotel.

The future of 2999 Turtle Creek Boulevard lies in the hands of the 26 designers selected to create rooms and gardens for the 2024 Show House.
Winners of the coveted spaces for Kips Bay Decorator Show House will be announced on Aug. 30.
“This year’s location offers a beautiful canvas for our talented designers, showcasing their creativity while supporting our mission to enrich the lives of our youth through the power of art and design,” said Dan Quintero, executive director of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.
“We are thrilled to showcase our fifth annual event at this iconic address,” added James Druckman, president of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club board. “We anticipate a showcase that not only celebrates design innovation but also underscores our commitment to raising critical funding both for the community and our kids.”
