It’s not uncommon for builders to fall in love with the home they’re building. Designing and building a home is often a labor of love, and it’s clear that was the case for builder and co-founder of Lux Custom Homes TX, Dustin Smith, for his Old Preston Hollow build at 4206 Woodfin Drive.

“I fell in love with the possibilities of developing an estate that offered the best of both worlds: top-shelf luxury selections and finishes while creating a fully functional and secure residence for the future buyer,” Smith said. “I feel like it was an honor to build this home and bring this lot to life. I don’t imagine there will be another home like 4206 Woodfin. It’s a true piece of art.”

Lux Custom Homes is a family-owned business, and Smith and his wife Christina live in Preston Hollow. It’s clear touring this home that while it is designed with great artistry and luxury, it does maintain that balance of functionality, always keeping in mind that real people are going to live here with everyday needs.

Listing agent Juli Black, Senior Vice President and Broker Associate with Allie Beth Allman & Associates, agrees.

“The builder meticulously laid out this home on the lot, ensuring every detail was crafted with care and precision to create a beautiful and functional living space,” Black said.

And to Smith’s point of there not being another home like it — not only is it a stunning home, but a home this size (9,655 sqft), on a lot this size (0.73 acres), in this coveted Old Preston Hollow neighborhood — he may be right.

We enter 4206 Woodfin through a grand entryway with black doors that match the subtle black and white theme that continues throughout the home. You can see the black and white checkerboard marble tile in the foyer just inside. Note the excellent lanterns that are just the beginning of the glorious lighting choices that have been made in every room.

“The entry and stairway are picture perfect for family photos during the holidays, creating beautiful memories in a stunning setting,” Black said.

Here we have a living room and the first of two fireplaces, just off the foyer, with that gorgeous light wood flooring stretching through to the main living area. Through the foyer, you can just peek into the office/study, which we’ll come to later. The millwork is stunning in this room, showing off the grandeur of those high ceilings, and the subtle beauty of the arched entryways. The room is the perfect preface to its neighbor, the formal dining room.

Another light, bright, heavenly space, easy to picture a number of different styles working in here. Another gorgeous chandelier. The coffered ceiling makes this one of my favorite spaces in the house. I love a dinner party, and it’s easy to picture hosting both large and intimate events in this space. Especially when one has this kitchen and its extras to work with!

Not only is this a dream kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, and oversized, eat-in island with huge amounts of counter space and storage, BUT (scroll through the pictures) off to the right, between the kitchen and the dining room is the most darling blue butler’s pantry. Between the butler’s pantry and the living room is a full bar with 150 bottle Sub-Zero wine fridge. And on the opposite side of the butler’s pantry is a matching walk-in food pantry (also blue). Oh, how I love this kitchen.

Opening to the kitchen is the main living area, where you can see the second fireplace and peek into that full bar I mentioned above. Take another moment to notice the fabulous lighting in both the kitchen and the living room. You also get a ton of light from the large windows in the kitchen and the banks of glass on both the front and back of the house. The beamed ceiling here adds another architectural detail that again draws the eye upward creating both interest and adding an airiness to the space.

Before we hit the bedroom, I’d be remiss if I didn’t show you the office space. This room could obviously be used in multiple ways, but what a great place to work! That huge window, that incredible ceiling, another impeccable light fixture… If you’re reading this, and you buy this home, can I work in your office? Please?

One of the most exciting features of this home is that it has two primary suites: one downstairs, and one upstairs. “Having two primary suites is a real luxury, providing everyone with comfort and privacy,” said Black. “It’s also incredibly flexible, perfect for accommodating guests, multi-generational living, or creating a personal retreat.”

And you don’t have to make upstairs/downstairs your main concern, because this home comes equipped with an elevator, and two laundry rooms.

Outdoor living at 4206 Woodfin Drive is beyond compare. The spacious covered patio offers endless options for both entertaining and family fun. The outdoor kitchen and fireplace provide a centerpiece for gatherings any time of year. The picturesque pool/spa and water feature could not be more inviting on a hot day, and a beautiful environment for year round enjoyment.

Other notable features include the 5-car oversized garage, which could easily accommodate lifts should a buyer want more capacity. For privacy, the home is surrounded by an 8-9 foot wall, so you’d never know you’re close to Midway. The home features a media room, a game room, a gym, and Black told me about a bonus room that could be used for a golf simulator (the 12-foot ceiling makes it particularly ideal).

This five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home truly has everything, and in the exclusive neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow. Some lucky buyer will be very happy with this unique offering from Lux Custom Homes TX.

Juli Black of Allie Beth Allman Associates has 4206 Woodfin Drive listed for $7.45 million.
