Peek Inside Shaquille O’Neal’s Carrollton Home for Sale (Bonus, It’s Close to Babe’s)

Living close to a Babe’s Chicken Dinner House means something to Shaquille O’Neal, but the National Basketball Association legend will have to travel further now that he’s selling his nearby Carrollton home.
The Texas native, who frequented the famous family-style restaurant, has listed his five-bedroom home in the Denton County portion of Carrollton for $1.695 million. Two years ago, he bought the 5,269-square-foot house for $1.55 million.
Zac Gideo of Rogers Healy and Associates Real Estate helped O’Neal buy the house and announced the sale on Instagram. Gideo is the seller’s agent for the Carrollton house.

From the Listing:
“Welcome to the luxury gated community of Gates of Prestonwood, this elegant home has curb appeal with uplighting and lush landscaping! Step inside and you are greeted with a foyer boasting high ceilings and a grand chandelier. Off the foyer you have the large formal dining and a moody cigar lounge-esque library with a tiered ceiling, fireplace, and a wall of built-in shelving. The kitchen, breakfast, and living space has an open concept with soaring ceilings, a fireplace, and a wall of windows that gives you a scenic view of the pool and palm trees. This dream kitchen has it all, offering high-end appliances including a 6 burner Wolf gas range, granite countertops, and a large island. The primary suite is private from the rest of the home with a seating area and beautiful views of the pool, dramatic lighting, and resort style bath. There is an ensuite guest room downstairs with 3 spacious ensuite bedrooms upstairs and a media room, and two huge floored walk-in attic spaces for storage.”

The house is located in the gated community of Gates of Prestonwood. It’s a luxury neighborhood but the relatively modest home is a far cry from his 12-bedroom mega-mansion, known as “Shaq-apulco,” that he once owned in Orlando.
One thing we do know: The gregarious retired basketball star digs fried chicken. He’s known to hit Babe’s, Chicken N Pickle, and Raising Cane’s, in addition to his Big Chicken franchises in North Texas.

In a video posted on Instagram in 2022, O’Neal was seen at the Babe’s in Carrollton. His new 4,670-square-foot home in Heath in Rockwall County is about twice the distance from a Babe’s, but at least there’s a Raising Cane’s in nearby Rockwall.
“Growing up, all we had was fried chicken,” he told The News. “In college, we had a lot of fried chicken. I used to do various things — chicken with cheese, chicken with mayo, ketchup, slice it up. And I’m a big supporter of Cane’s.”
Gideo, who did not respond to text messages for comment, told The Dallas Morning News that he could not discuss the house or O’Neal’s reasons for selling.
