This Midlothian Home Impresses With Multigenerational Possibilities

Midlothian has been garnering more attention the last few years, ever since Google chose the city for the location of its new, massive data center in 2019. The company announced earlier this year that it would be adding another data center to its Midlothian campus to be completed in 2025. For a town that has been known as the cement capital of Texas, Google has made a major impression.
When we think of the growth of the suburbs in North Texas, many of us immediately think north of Dallas to places like Frisco, Celina, and Prosper. Midlothian, about 30 minutes southwest of Dallas, and 30 minutes southeast of Ft. Worth, is also experiencing that growth. In the last four years, the city’s population has grown by nearly 18%, and by 2040 expectations are that it could double. As a result, builders have been churning out at least 400 new homes per year for the last ten years, so there is a considerable amount of new housing in Midlothian.
One of those homes, a pristine 2018 D.R. Horton home, is this week’s Highlight Home of The Week sponsored by Senior Loan Officer Lisa Peters of First Horizon.
A Great Neighborhood

What’s important to one homebuyer is going to be different than the next, so I’ll start with two things that I think are unique and stand out to me about this listing. When I was looking for a home earlier this year, one of the biggest things on my list was having walkable parks for my kids and dogs. Plus, we were moving from a house with a pool, and looking for one without one, so we hoped to find a neighborhood with a community pool. This house has both — right around the corner is Midlothian Community Park, which is a massive recreational complex with sports fields, playgrounds, trails, and an awesome splash pad. And the neighborhood of Lawson Farms has a beautiful pool and clubhouse with remarkably low HOA fees (also walking distance).

A Home Within a Home
The second feature that sets this home apart for me is the guest quarters that can function separately or as part of the home. One bedroom and living area has washer/dryer hookups, its own entrance, garage access, and utilities such that you could even install a kitchenette. It’s a perfect arrangement for multigenerational living, or if you want to lease part of the home.
More House in Midlothian
When I spoke to Dave Perry-Miller agent DeCarla Anderson about her listing, she said, “What strikes me is that you get so much more house in Midlothian for the money that you do in Dallas.” She told me that she’d recently closed on another Midlothian home in the $700’s that would have gone for $2 million if it had sold in Dallas. And 3454 Brighton Drive certainly bears that out.
With four bedrooms, four baths, and 2,825 square feet on almost a quarter-acre corner lot, this D.R. Horton home has plenty to brag about listed at $559,000. The house is totally move-in ready with beautiful design details throughout, like the sleek wood-style tile floors, the beautiful moulding, the pocket niche, and the rounded archway we see in the hallway.

The eat-in kitchen is open to the living area with a breakfast nook overlooking the yard, making the space a true heart of the home for busy families, and also perfect for entertaining. The bright white cabinetry with the neutral blue accent wall gives the space such a peaceful feel. I love the sink and dishwasher on the island, so your back isn’t always to the action when you’re in the kitchen.

The primary suite offers a spacious bedroom and bath with dual vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower. The owners have put in custom closet systems in all the bedrooms.
Outside, enjoy a large covered patio and a landscaped yard with plenty of room to play. Or add a pool! The three-car garage has enough extra room for a workshop, storage, or that man cave you’ve been dreaming about.

You can see this beautiful Midlothian home and check out the neighborhood for yourself this weekend at the open house on Sunday, July 28, from 2 to 4 p.m.
