Crazy Home Inspection Finds: You Can’t Make This Stuff Up
Share News:

Sometimes our home inspectors find problems that are so crazy, you wonder just how the heck that could have happened. When you peel back the layers of a home, you can find some weird stuff, whether it’s construction mistakes that somebody covered up, strange DIY repairs, or random renovations.
Here are a few particularly crazy home inspection finds that have come across my desk recently:
New Roof, Who Dis?

No. Were they drunk when they cut the decking? Were they still drunk when they decided to go ahead and lay it? This is nuts.
That’s Jacked Up

If you can’t tell, that’s a car jack holding up a garbage disposal. Why this might be occurring…either the garbage disposal or the sink itself might not be secured properly, and the unit was falling under the sink. But it seems to me, if you have the wherewithal to secure it with a carjack, you’d be handy enough to tighten a few screws?
Plumbers And Electricians Don’t Get Along

In new home construction, it’s a dog-eat-dog world. Whoever gets to the job site first, wins. In this case, the plumbers got there first, and the electricians said, “Oho! Nice try!” Just kidding, that’s not how it works at all. There’s a very detailed plan. But somebody ran their line in the wrong place and instead of adjusting, unbelievably, this guy drills a hole through the plumbing vent pipe and runs an electrical line right through it.
