Sunscout Studio’s Dallas Swan Song Just Hit The Market

Not that long ago, a friend texted me “Holy Mackerel.” First, I had to double-check how to spell that, and second, never has an expression truly captured the essence of all my feelings looking at the latest listing from David Griffin & Company’s David Collier.

It’s a bittersweet listing for Collier. It’s the end of an era and a pretty special relationship. This house belongs to the incredibly talented husband-and-wife team behind Sunscout Studio.

The End of an Era For Sunscout Studio

Collier said they’re extremely resourceful and always find cool and unexpected materials. They just recently added the sealed cork flooring in the home. Underneath are polished concrete floors that are amazing on their own, but dang that cork is cool.

In the bathroom, there’s an oversized frameless shower with glossy gray tile paired with a sealed concrete floor and bench. It’s a super cool look and one I haven’t seen before.

Then — and this is where Collier’s statement comes into play — they paired the whole dang thing with a graphic black-and-white tile, floating glossy white vanity, and brass faucet.

It’s a mix of metals, and gang, it works.

Sunscout is very well-versed in Midcentury design. It’s their sweet spot era. But the way they do it, it’s almost Midcentury glam, like just a little baby bit of Hollywood Regency blended in there.

Like we just saw in the bathroom, their secret weapon is their ability to mix textures and styles and create a space that feels comfortable yet refined. It’s also one of the reasons it’s super hard to pick a favorite room. But I’ll go first — it’s that secondary bathroom. The super duper graphic Terrazzo-look flooring with a stand-alone bathtub that doubles as a shower? I’m telling you, eras colliding in such a fun way.

Easy Breezy Midcentury

This amazing little house has an equally amazing exterior. Sunscout Studio added a breeze block wall for visual interest and privacy. Collier said it also creates this killer little courtyard.

There’s another atrium-style courtyard out back and the entire backyard is filled with little conversation areas with and without shade. What an amazing place to host a party and if you buy this one, be sure to invite us all.

Collier has the impeccable Midcentury from Sunscout Studio at 10306 Church Road listed for $650,000. The open house is this Saturday, March 30, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why is it their “Dallas swan song”? I don’t understand. Are they leaving town?
