How Will AI Change Architecture? This Panel Discussion Explores The Issue

Share News:

The architecture and design industry is not immune to AI and its influence. That’s why the Dallas Architecture Forum is hosting a panel at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Angelika Theater at Mockingbird Station. A pre-panel reception will be held in the lobby at 6:15 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the forum’s spring 2024 panel discussion series. Attendees can earn CE credit for participating.

With the title of “The Future of AI and the Design Community,” you’re guaranteed a meaty back-and-forth that hits on the biggest issues affecting the industry today. Panel moderator Amanda Buckley, Principal and Chief Marketing Officer at OMNIPLAN, will guide the discussion.

“I am excited to be moderating the Dallas Architecture Forum panel on AI,” Buckley told CandysDirt.com. “This panel is an opportunity to hear from different perspectives within the architecture and construction industry about how AI is challenging our way of work and the future of our business. AI is a major disruptor within the industry, and I’m looking forward to a lively discussion with our esteemed panel of speakers.”

The Dallas Architecture Forum will host a panel discussion entitled “The Future of AI and the Design Community” featuring (clockwise from top left) Amanda Buckley of OMNIPLAN as moderator, Associate Professor Joshua M. Nason from The University of Texas at Arlington, Corgan’s Samantha Flores, and TestFit’s Clifton Harness.

The panelists represent a wide spectrum of the industry, which will make for great discussion on how technology such as AI can impact the industry, and likewise how the industry can advance through its use. Panelists include Samantha Flores, AIA, RID, the Vice President and Director of Hugo, Corgan’s innovation and research team; Clifton Harness, Co-Founder of TestFit; and Joshua M. Nason, Associate Professor Assistant Director of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington.

“AI will undoubtedly be another powerful tool in our toolbox, but should be used in an iterative, collaborative way. With shrinking timelines, tighter budgets, and an increasingly competitive talent pool, we’d be remiss to not give AI a hard look on how aides our day-to-day workflows,” Buckley said. “Our panelists represent a cross-section of the industry with an AI technology pioneer (TestFit, Clifton Harness), a leader from a local architecture college (UTA, Josh Nason), and the head of an architectural research and development group (Samantha Flores, Corgan/Hugo) that analyzes the latest in technology and innovation. I know I’m personally looking forward to a lively conversation, maybe debate even, on how and when we should utilize AI effectively and responsibly.”
