These Open Houses Prove That Mom Doesn’t Need Another Coffee Mug For Mother’s Day

Share News:

Mother’s Day, celebrated the second Sunday of May in the U.S., is upon us. In case you haven’t seen any ads or commercials recently, you should know that this Sunday, May 14, will be Mother’s Day.

It was Anna Jarvis, whose own mother, Anna Marie Reeves Jarvis, inspired her to lobby for a day to celebrate all mothers. Anna’s mother, who was an activist and social worker, believed all mothers, both living and dead, deserved honor and tribute. After her mother’s death in 1905, the daughter never forgot her mother’s wish.

So the daughter sent carnations, her mother’s favorite flowers, in memory of her mother to a West Virginia church. Then in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared the took second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day in the U.S.

And there you go. Hallmark, florists, and robe manufacturers took notice and you’re now slammed with ads. I would like to inform you that your mother doesn’t need another coffee mug with some clever saying emblazoned upon it. A gallon of bubble bath and the time to enjoy it could be lovely. A corsage would be nice — red, or pink if her mother is living, and white if she’s gone on.

Here’s what your mom really wants: time with you. So, feed her well, and then why don’t you offer to accompany her on a nice stroll through open houses? Here are some you could consider, and treat her to food and a cold beverage either before or after. Or if you wanted to buy Mom a house, you could probably skip the bow. Consider one or all of these below.
