The New Mullican Place Ranchettes Offers Beauty on the Bluebonnet Trail

Every April, thousands descend on the scenic Highland Lakes region of Ellis County, to celebrate a flower so special it’s inspired one of Texas’ longest-running festivals and even its own urban lore. The 71st annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trail guides visitors along 40 miles of hills and pastures so wildflower-laden that the landscape is positively carpeted in blue. Located directly on the Bluebonnet Trail, you’ll find a new luxury ranch community that’s as quintessentially Texas as bluebonnets are — the Mullican Place Ranchettes.

The idyllic pasture located just 30 minutes south of Downtown Dallas holds a special place in owner and developer Gene Robinson’s heart. Long-Time Land Owners

Robinson and the Bar-M Ranch, named for the original Mullican family from Ellis County, can trace land ownership back to 1881. That’s only 50 years after the original Mexican land grant was issued to Rafael de la Pena (that’s the subdivision name you’ll see on official county records.) Back then, this land was still Mexico as Texas’ independence came two years later. An interesting fact, sure, but what this tells us is that this Ellis County parcel has been looked-after and well-maintained for generations.
