Christmas Lights 2022: Flashy Lights, Disco Santa, Lots of Music Create North Richland Hills Chaos

Neighborhood: Curry Christmas Chaos, North Richland Hills.

Where: 3506 Reeves St., North Richland Hills. Enter off North Hills Drive, and turn south on Reeves.

What makes it special: The eclectic mix of traditional-style Christmas lights and individually controlled RGB pixels have been delighting crowds for seven years in the neighborhood built in the 1950s. Mastermind Brett Curry controls 13,000 individual channels in his house and even more lights at his neighbor’s house across the street.  The lights are synchronized to radio station 89.9 FM with both traditional Christmas music, holiday classics, and a few “crowd pleasers” thrown in for fun.

What:  When the synchronized music numbers 23 songs and runs for an hour and 15 minutes, there are lots and lots of lights to keep things interesting. Brett was going for “a gigantic wow factor from the get-go,” he said. He wanted his display to be a magnet for light-lookers. “There’s more than one way to bring attention to our street, so I took mine over the top. That’s why I call it chaos.” A disco Santa dances ala John Travolta, and a reindeer dances, too, while the music ranges from classic Christmas tunes to more modern songs. Brett’s aim is a flashy, eye-catching spectacle for all to see, and he seems to be on target. With a display meant to be enjoyed from a vehicle, Curry Christmas chaos has drawn jeep clubs and senior citizen center buses over the years. “I did it to try to bring joy to others,” he said. “Nothing is better than hearing a car full of kids singing in front of my house.”

When:  6 to 11 p.m. nightly, with shows suspended during rain. Condensed show nightly through Jan. 8.
