Gingerbread Stroll for Children’s Charities Offers Sweet Treats through Nov. 30

As Will Ferrell advises in the holiday classic “Elf,” it’s important to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.

If that’s your mantra this holiday season, you’re in luck. The annual Gingerbread Stroll at Highland Park Village is underway and continues through Nov. 30.

Realtor Christine McKenny of Allie Beth Allman & Associates launched the Gingerbread Stroll in 2010 with philanthropist Lynn McBee. The pair auctions off chef-created gingerbread houses in partner retail stores throughout Highland Park Village. More than $190,000 has been raised over the years for Community Partners of Dallas children’s charities.

The event is on target to surpass a milestone of $200,000 in total giving to children’s charities in Dallas this year, McKenny said.

“This is very exciting for us,” she said.

“Each November, I just market and sell a few extra houses … Gingerbread houses,” McKenny told CandysDirt.com last year. “As a team, the sponsors, pastry chefs, merchants, and I have funded a new ‘intake room’ for the children served by Community Partners of Dallas. This room looks like a small playhouse and has a bed, toys, and a desk for the kids. It is wonderful that the Gingerbread Stroll team is able to bring talents together to help others.”

And when candy is involved, you can bet your lollipops CandysDirt.com will be on board as a sponsor. We can’t wait to see you there.

This year’s participating merchants and pastry chefs include:

  • Beretta Gallery | Pastry Works | Pastry Chef Arielle Sutcliffe
  • BIRD Bakery | BIRD Bakery Team
  • Bistro 31 | Pastry Works | Pastry Chef Arielle Sutcliffe
  • ETRO | Hilton Anatole | Executive Pastry Chef Christophe Feyt & Pastry Team
