Designers Bring Their Best to the Table for Kappa Tablescapes

Need a little inspiration for your holiday table? We’ve got it — in spades. Last week’s Kappa Tablescapes was creativity on overload, showcasing the handiwork of 40 pre-eminent designers and retailers.

We caught up with co-chair Victoria Snee at the Dallas Country Club, the venue for Monday night’s cocktail party and Tuesday’s luncheon.

“Tablescapes is such a great event. There’s something that will appeal to everyone.”

“I love the over-the-top, the whimsical, the huge and grand,” she said. “But I also love the simplicity of some of the tables.”

A fashion element was a new addition. A-list designer and Texas native Lela Rose was on hand doing triple duty: table designer, keynote speaker, and author. Her latest book, Fresh Air Affairs: Entertaining with Style in the Great Outdoors is slated to release in March 2023.

“Lela was a perfect fit,” said Snee, whose day job is Chief Marketing Officer for Candlelight Sponsor Highland Park Village. The tony shopping center is also home to Rose’s flagship boutique.

“What’s cool about Lela’s table is that you can actually shop it.”

Other stylish standouts included Patti Flowers’ nod to Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Olivia G’s colorful napkin frock centerpiece.

Look no further than Anna Curnes’ extraordinary glass work or Backstory + Top Tier’s upcycled floral sculpture by local artist Deborah Hardigan Viestenz.

The award for cleverness (and my personal favorite) was Lynda Piepgras’ timely tribute to Queen Elizabeth. Likewise Lucky Dog Barkery for its amusing pet-themed display.

As expected, there was no shortage of covetable china, tableware, and linens. As for florals, Tablescape veteran and Entryway Sponsor The Garden Gate set the bar high.

So, who benefits from all this fabulousness? “Our philanthropy committee vets all sorts of organizations,” Snee said.

This year’s recipients include Behind Every Door, The Center for Integrative Counseling and Psychology, The Magdalen House, and the Senior Source. “It’s wonderful we’re able to serve so many different groups of people.”
