This Winnetka Heights Charmer Has My Heart

Share News:

I feel like the older I get, the more charming Oak Cliff gets. Especially Winnetka Heights.

Winnetka Heights is one of the only single-family neighborhoods in Dallas where you can truly walk to restaurants and shops. Good ones, too. Favorites that have been around a minute mixed with new ones that “you just HAVE to try.”

Winnetka Heights pulls a diverse crowd, too, predominantly artistic, laid-back, people that are into charm and character, such as the owners of 515 S. Clinton Avenue.

It’s a super cute Craftsman that has all the curb appeal. Coldwell Banker’s Sheri Carcano said it’s one of the cutest in the neighborhood and she ain’t lying. It’s picture-perfect with bold blue siding and a complementary rusty red door. (It’s a muted red and the total perfect choice for the bright blue and white trim.)

Carcano said Winnetka Heights throws a fantastic Halloween Porch Party, and since this house has the porch of all porches (with bench storage, too!), it’s basically made for trick-or-treaters.

One other thing before we head inside 515, Carcano said a proposal to make this section of Winnetka Heights a Historic District will be on the ballot this fall. The advantage of snagging this house now? You’d still have time to move in and make any tweaks you want before the restrictions come in. (Two things on that: What in the world would you want to tweak? This house is perfection. AGREE. Second, we at CandysDirt.com are PRO historic conservation so skip the hissy fit in the comment section, we’re on your side.)

Okay, you guys, it’s time to head inside to this dreamboat. The first thing you notice because you can’t NOT, is the soaring 12-foot ceilings that make this 1,859-square-foot home feel SUPER spacious.

The next thing you notice is how MODERN it feels while staying true to the era. Grounding it in that sweet little pocket of the 1930s? The window trim that’s three-tier. The windows are newer, but the trim is holding it down.

The owners added a third bedroom AND bathroom off the back and they recreate the three-tier casing in there as well. And YES it IS now a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house! That’s one of the things that make it extra special — it’s big for this area.

Now, check out the dang kitchen. They completely remodeled it in 2020 and it’s so chic and cozy. All white with farmhouse cabinets and open shelving, Butcher block countertops and a mobile island that stays with the house. That kitchen is so big, you could easily swap it for a larger islands or maybe just add another little guy and call them your islands off the coast of the sink. I don’t know. Spitballing here.

Okay, I hope you’re freaking sitting because guess what else this kitchen has? A storm-safe area behind the refrigerator. YES. In case of emergency, pull out the fridge, huddle in the back and ride out the storm that we hope will never come. Is that crazy? As in crazy-awesome? It is.

There’s a dedicated laundry room that came along with the addition and the backyard couldn’t be more fabulous if it tried. All in all, this house is a total keeper. It’s also one where the owners have such great taste and totally “get it” and that just makes it even better.

Carcano has 515 S. Clinton Avenue listed for $575,000.
