In Burleson, We Found Home on the Range

Some homes just speak to you. They tell you they’re contemporary or comfortable. Sleek or soulful. High-maintenance or homey. But this custom-built Burleson home listed by Eddie Wilbanks with the CW Group of Compass RE Texas didn’t speak to me. It sang.

“Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam, where the deer and the antelope play. Where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day.” Yes, I sang an old cowboy anthem to myself as I browsed the photos of this Burleson home — and I bet you are now, too.

The custom home at 10420 County Road 1016 has 6,072 square feet with five bedrooms and five baths, set on 6.57 acres. Everything in this home is big. Towering living room ceilings. Massive primary bedroom with an equally-massive bathroom and walk-in closet that’s larger than most new construction bedrooms these days. Huge gameroom that could accommodate 100. Huge-r outdoor party patio overlooking the pool. I hate to use the old cliche, but this home really is Texas-sized.

The two-story living area features vaulted ceilings — one side with a trio of clerestory windows and the other a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that’s flanked with double French doors that lead out onto the pool and patio.

The kitchen features a center island and stainless steel appliances including a double oven, built-in microwave, cooktop, and refrigerator. There’s a spacious walk-in pantry and a kitchen desk space as a household communication station, if you will. Just adjacent there’s a large dining space that flows into the game room hallway.

Here in this hallway, that’s where the antelope play. The wallscape offers a glimpse of the range, highlighted by abundant picture lighting that’ll make any art on the wall really pop.

Then we come to one of two really impressive entertaining spaces. The game room has a built-in wet bar has a wine refrigerator, beverage station, and bar seating. There’s plenty of room to host large gatherings of family and friends, Wilbanks says. “Parties, showers, or hosting the big game parties.”

Nice weather? Migrate the party from the game room outside to the massive party patio.

“I love all the entertaining spaces in the home, especially the 1,440-square-foot outdoor living space,” Wilbanks says. “It’s a great spot to watch the games, put your feet up in front of the fireplace, grill some steaks, and have a drink.”

This attached pavilion with cedar-plank ceilings and rustic polished concrete has a full outdoor kitchen, living area with fireplace, and dining area overlooking the pool.

After entertaining friends and family (or finally kicking them out), retreat to the massive owner’s suite. There’s plenty of room for a private living area in the bedroom, a cozy study, or a comfortable work space.

The bathroom features dual vanities, a step-up tub, and standalone shower. And then there’s the walk-in closet. Shelves and shelves of shoe racks, handbag cubbies in the middle, and display shelves up top for your boots. (Look at them all!) Even a place to hang your hat.

Don’t forget, there’s 6.5 acres on the property that’s been cleared and fenced, so it’s ready for your horse facilities and other animals.
