If You’re Looking For Everything, Here’s An East Dallas House That Has It

Merriman Park Elementary is highly sought after. Check. We all know that. It’s in East Dallas with Richardson ISD and boy, oh boy, does everyone want in. Living near White Rock Lake, another big ol’ feather in the dream house cap. Then there’s just the overall charm of Lake Highlands and everything that’s been updated and upgraded and added down there. And the location, riiiiight? Central Expressway and LBJ are so close. Getting up north — or any direction — is a total breeze.

Where is this all going? One easy address: 6918 Truxton Drive. Get a load of this one. It’s remodeled impeccably. It’s set on top of the hill so it “overlooks the tree-lined streets.” Restaurants and shopping are all within walking distance. Not to mention parks and a trail that will lead you right to beloved White Rock Lake. Across from the Lake? The Arboretum. If you’re any kind of outdoorsy, even outdoorsy light, this is the place to live in the city. I mean the word magical is a total barfer, but White Rock Lake is magical. Especially lately with these completely foreign-to-us temperatures. Had a day? Head to the lake. On top of the world? Head to the late and get even more on top of it. It’s the freaking best, y’all. And so is this house.

Allie Beth Allman’s Dustin Merritt completely agrees, there’s a lot to love about this house. Including the location. But to Merritt what sets it apart is that porte-cochère out front. He said as a design element it’s incredible. It sets the house apart from everyone in the neighborhood. No one else has that. But it’s even more than just curb appeal. Merritt said it’s freaking convenient, too. He said the current owners rarely if ever park in the garage because it’s just so much easier to slide under that covered drive out front.

Location, porte-cochère, convenience, we’ve covered a lot of what’s great about Truxton, but we’re just getting started. The number of updates is insane. A very recently remodeled Primary Bathroom with Carrera marble that’s drop-dead gorgeous. A swimming pool with fresh “hand-selected gunite and tile” and replaced pool pump. A generous sunken living room ”surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and natural light.” And a chef’s kitchen with the Thermador gas range and commercial grade refrigerator to back it up. You know what expression people say way too often? It checks a lot of boxes. But in the case of Truxton, it actually does.

Merritt has 6918 Truxton Drive listed for $974,500. He’ll also be holding it open today, Saturday, June 4 from noon until 4 p.m.
