Lovely In Les Jardins Where the Classic Details Give This House a Little Jus

You know what Coldwell Banker’s Susan Georgeson had to say about this house? It’s elegant. What a wonderfully underused word in real estate. It’s also tasteful and restrained and so, so pretty, too.

It’s located in the Private School Corridor in the Les Jardins neighborhood. Built in 1967, even though it’s not technically a mid-century ranch, it certainly has a lot of architectural details. The updates done by the previous owner (before this spectacular little lady with clearly great taste) take the classic details and give them a little jus. The Parquet floors feature a slightly oversized square with a walnut finish and are hand-scraped. How clever is that?

The fireplace was remodeled for a sleeker footprint and the hearth was tiled flush with the floor. (Versus the presumably brick box that used to be there.)

The other feature that Georgeson and I both basically drooled over is the kitchen. Yet another nod to mid-century details – mosaic tile. It’s a full wall backsplash, all the way to the ceiling. I love all the cabinets that create a sleek pantry, too.

Almost all the walls – and maybe even all of them – have a flat, museum finish, soft neutral colors that’s both creamy and dreamy. You know what I’m talking about. The matte finish makes them modern and reminds you of Maalox. I mean, not really, because what a terrible description, Nikki, but it’s a good look!

Then you step outside in the backyard. Dang. Lush. Green. Vines on trees. Grass on the ground. Ha. It checks all the boxes of a backyard. I’m kidding. Because it’s so much more than that. It’s an oversized lot and this is your place to escape if you lived in this gorgeous home, what the heck are you escaping from?

Georgeson said Les Jardins is precisely what you think it is. It’s a quiet pocket in the city. A place where the neighbors all know each other and pick up one another’s mail when they’re out of town. I’m sure you’re well aware of where it’s located in the city, but just in case, it’s the corner of Royal and Midway. Stellar central location with tons of restaurants and boutiques and two malls (which I live for) under five miles away. Head to either airport with ease or just buy this house and call it a staycation for life.

Georgeson has 4315 Royal Ridge Drive listed for $749,000.
