Big City in the Country: This Modern Farmhouse Hits the Mark

If you didn’t see that verdant, roaming landscape in this photo’s background, you might swear this modern farmhouse — the style du jour — was located in Preston Hollow. But this 5,865-square-foot home is located on 1.78 sprawling acres in the Rockwall County city of Heath.

Heath is a community of more than 8,100 residents located just south of Rockwall along the southeastern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard. This 2018-built home is located in Stoneleigh, one of Heath’s most prestigious neighborhoods of custom homes. Here the homesites are large, ranging from half an acre to 3.5 acres and are amply spread among winding walking trails and a private pond.

This luxurious like-new, one and a half story custom home features five bedrooms, six baths, and four living rooms. Or six bedrooms and three living areas. The space is flexible, and if we’ve learned anything over the past two years, it’s that we all need flexibility in our living spaces.

Step into the entry with herringbone wood floors and prepare to look up as you enter the great room. A cathedral ceiling is adorned with wood beams that add warmth and drama to this room. A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, custom chandeliers, wood plank flooring, and banks of windows complete the family room.

The well-appointed kitchen is just exquisite A large oversized center island, lighted display shelving, a farmhouse sink, and top of the line appliances. I’m going to need to start a new sentence for these… There’s a Wolf 48” dual fuel four-burner double oven, a Wolf steam oven, a professional-grade vent hood, and a Wolf microwave. The kitchen is equipped with two Kitchen Aid dishwashers, an oversized built-in refrigerator and freezer, and not one but two Scotsman ice makers — one for ”Sonic” ice and one for clear cubes.

My surprising favorite of this home? The dramatic dining area. The chandeliers, the stone wall, the honey-toned wood floors, they all bring this open space together. Plus, the dining area offers a view of the impressive 950-bottle, climate-controlled wine cellar with custom cedar wine racks and ceiling.

The dining area opens onto the covered patio and outdoor living area with a summer kitchen with commercial-style appliances, and a spectacular pool with fire and water features.

Other perks include a modern home theater, game room, spacious laundry room with cabinet space for dual washers and dryers, and a four-car air conditioned and heated garage with an electric charging station.

This home is all about luxury, top of the line materials, and space to spread out.

And finally I have one fun tidbit about the city of Heath. Residents took to the polls a while back to vote whether to change the municipality’s name to the Village of Heath. The nays eeked out the yays, but I think it illustrates the country hometown feel you’ll find in this town and this home.

Dee Evans of Ebby Halliday Realtors has listed 242 Bristol Court in Heath for $2.79 million.
