Can you blame us for being sweet on this Munger Place Craftsman for years?

To be considered as a Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth, a home had to be listed during the period between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of 2021 and be, well, sweet! This classic Munger Place Craftsman has all the ingredients we look for in a home, and then some. It’s completely restored and updated in a terrific walkable, family-friendly neighborhood, and at under a million, actually affordable for most two-income families.

Allie Beth Allman and Associates’ Jan Rook nominated 710 Dumas Street as one of the Sweetest Homes in Dallas-Fort Worth because she thought it was “a beautiful marriage of days gone by and today.” We completely agree.

We have been big fans of the classic Craftsman since Tam Pham of Steel Toe Stiletto did the phenomenal restoration and updates on it a few years ago, winning a Preservation Achievement Award from Preservation Dallas in 2020.

Pham’s known for doing the hard structural work to ensure these historic homes live for another century and that the new owners can rest assured they are moving into a sound property. She also ensures the original charm is maintained because that is what you expect from a 1921 classic Craftsman. Joshua Bathage detailed the project in 2019.

Pham enlisted the help of an out-of-state colleague to restore the original windows and doors. She enclosed the back porch to create a mudroom/laundry. She also added an upstairs addition and a two-car garage. The home now has four bedrooms and an office that could easily be converted to a fifth.

The home has an interesting history, too, which we included when we gushed about this home last month.

Now the big attraction of this 2,845-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bathroom classic craftsman is a buyer gets to do the fun part— move in and decorate.
