Barbara Pantuso Lists a Southlake Modern Hacienda That Takes Casual Luxury to The Next Level

Hallelujah! A home worthy of being a Monday Morning Millionaire was just listed.
On a smidge under 15 acres, this modern hacienda in Southlake is an example of everything today’s buyers look for in a luxury home.
Let’s start with smart marketing by uber-luxury agent Barbara Pantuso of Pantuso Properties at Keller Williams Realty Luxury Homes International. Never doubt the power of Instagram. Barbara and her team know it works. When my editor shot me a text Friday night with a screen capture of this home from Instagram, I almost spilled my wine. If you are a luxury Realtor and not using Instagram, you are missing the clients and the media.
But that’s a post for another day.
The longing for land has never been stronger.
Texans have always had a hankering for the big spread, and our land factor has never been more alluring for the current flood of newcomers that just keep coming.
According to the Texas Real Estate Research Center, more people are seeking land in the North Texas region than ever before. “Waves of demand in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex meant strong activity in the region,” said research economist Dr. Charles Gilliland in a recent report on rural land sales.
An important aspect of having this much acreage is the Texas AG Exemption. It’s a special use appraisal based on the productivity of the land. So, for instance, if you have livestock, horses, bees, crops, or hay, your taxes are reduced — considerably. This property produces coastal hay and has a manager that takes care of the operation, so not only do you get land, privacy, security, and a fabulous home here, you can opt to keep the property manager in place.
And yes, there is a yearly buyer for the hay.
Casting a Line
Before I get to the gorgeous modern hacienda, there’s one more significant outdoor feature that is a deal sealer for any serious angler.
The present owners were drawn not only by the land but also by the pond in front of the home. They redid it completely and stocked it with high-value bass and bluegills to feed them. Magnolia Fisheries maintain the pond. They know what they are doing, and the bass in this pond are huge. Just imagine walking out your front door to your own private fishing oasis!
Finding a home on acreage is certainly a reality in Texas, but finding one with a flawless magazine-worthy home is a rarity. When the owners, Patty and Steve Dumler, were about ready to break ground, an issue of “Elegant Homes” caught Patty’s attention.
“I saw this huge modern hacienda-style house and loved it,” Patty said. Their project manager Doug Wright with Ritz Ventures made sure their dream home came to life.
“The great room is my favorite part of the house, especially the sitting area, which makes the space as far as I’m concerned,” Patty said.
Comfort was the driving force in designing the 5,025-square-foot modern hacienda. Although it has an open floor plan with the kitchen as a focal point, Patty understands those who enjoy cooking don’t want it all front and center. So there is a second, smaller kitchen where she can get up to her elbows in cookie dough, and no one will be the wiser.
Patty worked with Ragan and Oscar Aguilera of Sally Lynn Home to furnish her modern hacienda.
“When you build a home from scratch, you have to do it all from scratch,” Patty said. “They listened to me and understood our lifestyle.”
That lifestyle includes canine family members so it’s definitely a dog-friendly home.
Indeed, it’s a worthy Monday Morning Millionaire.
At $11.5 million for a perfect home on almost 15 acres, I’ll be surprised if 720 S. White Chapel Blvd. does not already have multiple offers.
That land used to belong to my family, and there is much history there. Jesse James stayed in our barn when he was running from lawmen. And he left his gold watch fob, which my great grandfather gave me as he told the story. That land was homesteaded by my great grandfather, George Washington Mills, who is buried in the cemetery nearby. He lived on the land until he died, and my grandmother, Naomi Cleo Howard lived their with her only child, my dad, George Howard .My dad lived there until he sold it in the 80’s. Our old homeplace was torn down, and a colonial home was put there, until these owners bought it and torn it down. I have watched it all these years, and there used to be an old rock spring house near the back. I am Jan Howard Davis, and I am a realtor for Ebby Halliday Realtors . Love to see the photos of where I had so many memories..
Thank you so much for this information. I am completely thrilled to read about the exciting history of the property!
Barbara is a pro… and such a joy to work with. We worked on opposite sides of a luxury sale in Colleyville a few years back, and she really knows her stuff. Beautiful home and property.
Barbara, what a stunning property and home. The home has some amazing features!
