Makin’ It Work With a Mix of Styles Over On Swiss

This house over on Swiss is so well designed and decorated, you’d think an interior designer either lives here or was hired and should be hired forever and always because this place is so gorgeous.

But NOPE, the owners aren’t interior designers, they just clearly have a gift. Compass’ Chad Schulin pointed out that it’s not often someone has the ability to so seamlessly blend modern, transitional, vintage, and every style in between. This house is a testament to the fact that in the right hands, it most def can be done.

Okay let’s talk about how the home is 1980s construction on Swiss Avenue. Newer!! And then again, even newer still because of the complete and total overhaul. (Shulin said the current owners designed the floorplan to be “more conducive to today” as in “larger closets.” We just have stuff, people. Lots of stuff.)

One of the things I like most is that nothing is expected in this house. There’s a surprise everywhere you look. In the living room that big ol’ sheet of porcelain around the fireplace. In the bathroom, the mirror tiled wall. And then in the kitchen, that chandelier. Like I cannot even think of a word to describe it that would do it justice. Schulin said it’s six feet in diameter. It’s HUGE!! I feel like if you ever tried to eat a Hungry Man under that thing, you’d catch on fire because clearly that would be such a sin.

The details! Schulin said the fireplace mantle came from a salvation yard in Fort Worth and it’s over 100 years old. You can’t even see it in the pictures, there were so many good things to shoot in this house, but the door to the utility room was also found in an antique store in Fort Worth.

The whole house is basically designed to be an entertaining house. In the front, you have a grand foyer, formal dining room, formal living room, and library. Then as you head back, you get the open, effortless, “lived in” spaced like the open kitchen and casual living room.

And then there’s the backyard. Schulin said it’s like a boutique hotel out back with the pool, a black and white awning, and perfectly-spaced loungers. It’s such a cool space plus there’s an outdoor kitchen, a green space, and lots of seating, too. See? Party house.

I mean, hello, I love this house and I haven’t even mentioned all the features. We touched on the library, but it also has a sauna and a media room. I mean all I really need is that chandelier, but all the rest are nice to haves, too. I guess.

Chad Schulin of Compass RE Texas has listed 4837 Swiss Avenue at $850,000.
