Once again, North Texas suburbs made Money.com’s list of 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2021-2022.

In the 35th edition of Money’s rankings released this week, Flower Mound was fourth. Frisco was ranked 19th. The only other Texas suburb to make the list was Round Rock at 25th.

Last year, Rockwall was ranked fourth. In 2019, Wylie was 26th. In 2018, Frisco was ranked the best place to live. In 2017, Allen was second. In 2016, Plano was third.

Flower Mound was ranked 16th the year that Frisco topped the list. This year, Money.com reporter Mallika Mitra wrote the recap on why Flower Mound was the fourth choice.

“Locals say Flower Mound still has a small-town feel, but it’s growing quickly,” Mitra wrote. “The city saw the highest job growth of any place on our list over the last five years. It also comes in second for the highest projected job growth over the next five, just after Round Rock down near Austin.”

Other factors included the town’s Lakeside Business District is minutes away from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the 100 percent high school graduation rate, and Midwestern State University’s satellite campus dedicated to online learning.

Flower Mound also has lots of recreational activities. The Denton County town is located near the shores of Grapevine Lake. The area’s amenities also allow apartments to fetch the highest rents in Dallas/Fort Worth. Flower Mound also was ranked 74th on moveBuddha’s 101 Most Popular Mid-Size Cities for Movers in 2020. In STORAGECafé’s list of best 2021 snowbird destinations, Flower Mound ranked 68th, best in North Texas.

Money ranked communities based on factors such as safety, cost of living, and diversity. The publication analyzed a list of 1,890 communities with a population of at least 25,000. It also considered 115 separate data points on each community’s economy, the housing market, education system, employment, weather, and more.

Chanhassen, a Minneapolis suburb, grabbed the top ranking in 2021-2022.
