This Lochwood Ranch is a Sleeper That Has Everything You Want

Listen, I might be biased, but some of the best houses that are hitting the market these days are in the East Dallas enclave of Lochwood.

I mean, what’s not to love about Lochwood? We’ve lauded and praised and fawned over this neighborhood for as long as the staff at CandysDirt.com has been dishing the dirt. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area caught on.

But this Lochwood home has absolutely blown me away.

“From the outside, the home is a bit of a sleeper,” says David Griffin & Co. Realtor Bart Thrasher. “However, once you walk in, the ‘wow factor’ of the updates really sets in.”

That, my dear readers, is a vast understatement.

Thrasher wants you to note the waterfall countertop on the kitchen island, and how the home connects the entry courtyard and backyard, “which, by the way,” Thrasher imports, “has an immaculate pool that will make you the envy of all of your friends!”

A Floor Plan That Flexes

This home is ideal for a family, not only because it is located inside the award-winning Reilly Elementary School attendance area, but because the floor plan allows for both an open plan feel while still maintaining some separation of space.

“This home is very easy to live in, with real hardwoods throughout and large open living spaces,” Thrasher said. “There’s a clear definition between public and private zones.”

For instance, when you enter the home the dining room and kitchen face the front door and are the most visible areas of the front of the house. Unsurprisingly, that’s also where most people gravitate when you entertain.

“I love the fact that the kitchen opens to the dining room, not the living room,” Thrasher added. “I love open plans — don’t get me wrong — but really I prefer some real sense of separation of space.”

 Views You Can Use

Some people avoid homes with corner lots because it often means that the backyard is a postage stamp while the front yard is positively immense. However, this home took a perceived negative and made it a positive.

“The large corner lot this home is perched on allows a side entrance through the cutest courtyard in Lochwood,” said Thrasher, practically gushing. “It’s under a covered porch just off Lippitt Ave., a winding creek-lined street, and just steps away from Lochwood Park.”

On the other side of the living room from the adorable courtyard and porch is the pergola and pool. So no matter where you look in this room — to the courtyard, to the pool, or to the beautiful fireplace with an adjacent built-in bookcase — you get a great big eyeful.

It’s OK if you need a minute to pick your jaw up off of the floor. We’ll wait.

Work (Out) From Home

Yes, folks, with the Delta variant spreading like cheap peanut butter, we’re going to see more and more people choosing to go back to working from home.

But with this property, whether you’re set up at the desk or burning up your anxiety on your Peloton, there’s a space for that.

One of the home’s three bedrooms is being used as a home office.
Need a spot for your Peloton? There’s room just off the garage.

“There is an 8-foot by 24-foot space off the two-car garage that the owner uses currently as a home gym,” Thrasher said. “It is not air-conditioned space, but just add a mini-split HVAC and a window and PRESTO — home office or studio!”

I know what you’re thinking. Why, with all these upgrades (including a killer primary suite that you just have to see in person at the open house on Sunday), and with the absolutely legendary Lochwood location, would anyone choose to leave? Well, it’s just another refrain from the same old song — the seller got a job in Denver.

Their loss is one lucky buyer’s gain, though.

“This home was thoroughly remodeled prior to my clients’ purchase — it is completely turnkey,” said Thrasher. “Not a thing needs to be touched!”

Thrasher says that 11671 Neering Drive in Lochwood officially hits the market Friday, Aug. 13, with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15.

The David Griffin & Company Realtor will have this three-bedroom, three-bath, 2,165-square-foot renovated ranch listed for $650,000.
