Whatever Happened to These Wednesday WTFs?

Every week our writers scour the web for the weirdest or most wonderful listings in the world, and they’re infinitely more witty than this wayward attempt at alliteration. But what happens after these WTF homes’ five minutes of fame? Here’s a look at whatever happened to these Wednesday WTF hall of famers:

The Home I’m Convinced Is a Crime Scene

Spray-painted walls, awful smells, and a brutally honest listing. Those are the horrors to be found in this Colorado Springs home we featured back in June.

After a nightmare tenant festooned the walls and carpets with assorted vulgarities, Realtor Mimi Foster shared the home’s backstory. “No one knows what happened to the original lessee, but it’s believed that she died and then a relative moved in,” Foster said in a video walkthrough of the home. “And it’s the relative who moved in who did all of this damage after she’d been evicted.”

But the market was crazy hot enough for this “little slice of hell” and Foster received 16 written cash offers within a day of it being listed for $590,000. The result? It sold on July 14 for $580,000.

Read more about this nightmarish home and speculate wildly about what’s in the basement:

The Home That Makes Such Nonsense That Maybe It Makes Sense

First off, the listing is pure nonsense, or is it?

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary-wise, what is, it wouldn’t be and what it wouldn’t be, it would, you see. This is entirely bonkers but I’ll tell you a secret, all the best houses are.”

We got worried back in May when the St. Louis home was pulled off MLS. Maybe the listing agent’s long strange trip had finally worn off and the sellers agreed to make the home less taste specific, we wondered.

Never fear. This funky temple of alternate reality stayed true to itself and went under contract July 28 for $325,000. After all, why be like every one else when you can be fabulous like this house?
