Preservation Dallas presents the 2021 Preservation Achievement Awards tonight! This year will be a virtual event once again, so you can enjoy the ceremony from the comfort of your own home.

Each year Preservation Dallas presents awards to individuals and companies that have been instrumental in restoring our historic structures.

Past winners have included The Sharrock Niblo Barn, Bowlskis-Lakewood Theater, and the Eagle Ford School (where Bonnie and Clyde briefly attended)!

Each year, Preservation Dallas looks at mountains of submissions for consideration. It’s not an easy job to sort out which of them deserve recognition because, fortunately, we have an active community of preservationists in Dallas.

In addition to restored properties, Special Recognition, Craftsmanship, Spirit of Preservation, Education, and Special Tribute awards are presented.

This year a special tribute will be presented to Todd Interests for their diligent preservation work in downtown Dallas. Their most recent project, The National, is the largest historic tax credit rehabilitation project in Texas.

CandysDirt.com is thrilled to be the 2021 Preservation Education award recipient for our weekly historic preservation column.

Preservation Dallas Executive director David Preziosi surprised us with the news a couple of weeks ago.

Columnist Karen Eubank, founder and publisher Candy Evans, and executive editor Joanna England received the Preservation Education Award from Preservation Dallas at the organization’s Swiss Avenue office.

“Preservation Dallas is excited to recognize CandysDirt.com for their wonderful inclusion of historic preservation and historic houses as part of their incredibly successful and fun-to-read real estate website. They regularly feature stories about historic properties for sale in Dallas and the Park Cities showcasing that historic houses can be charming and obtainable places to live.

CandysDirt.com is a true supporter of preservation in Dallas and the Park Cities, and we applaud them for their incredible work in raising awareness about historic architecture and the importance of preserving it for the future.”

The Iconic Meadows Building is one of the 2021 award recipients.

You still have time to join Preservation Dallas at an individual level for only $40 with the purchase of your award ticket to save 50 percent off regular membership pricing.

We hope you will join us in lifting a glass of bubbly at home to celebrate historic preservation and those who keep the history of Dallas alive for future generations to enjoy.
