Place des Vosges

One of the best things about Dallas is that our residential architecture can transport you anywhere in the world. If you long for the Parisian lifestyle, drive through the gates of Place des Vosges, and you’ll feel as if you’ve been swept into the Place de Dauphine in the 1st arrondissement.

Place des Vosges

This small exquisite neighborhood of only 16 classic French townhouses was designed around a triangular central courtyard by James E. Langford Architects and Planners. Alicia Quintans served as the project architect. It’s the place to be if you want a luxurious, centrally located, lock-and-leave lifestyle.

We’ve written about several of the gracious homes in Place des Vosges, but Number 16 is the pièce de resistance, without a doubt. Entering this three-story, 6,162-square-foot home is like walking into a recreation of 18th century Paris. It was designed by the award-winning architect Larry Boerder and built by John Sebastian.

It’s clear that inspiration was drawn from the Camondo family’s Parisian home, now the Musée Nissim de Camondo on Parc Monceau’s edge in the 8th arrondissement. It is widely appreciated as one of the best historic house museums in the world. The Camondo story is one worth reading, and the museum is a must to see when visiting Paris.

The Camando’s grand aesthetic has been beautifully created in this Place des Vosges home with the finest craftsmanship and magnificent finishes. The beauty of a classic Parisian townhome is how these homes live. The entry is of paramount importance. This is where the statement is made for what is to come. The sweeping cut limestone stairs with gilded railings set the stage for the formal salon’s opulence. Every single element chosen for this home, from the pink marble columns and gold leaf accents to the incredible collection of furnishings and décor, is exquisite.

This Place des Vosges townhome has a gorgeous mahogany-paneled library with built-in bookshelves, a cozy fireplace with a stone mantel, and a separate bar area.

The exciting aspect of this home is not only is it in the heart of Turtle Creek, but it is also available for lease, fully furnished. So, you really can instantly step into a Parisian lifestyle. With three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a powder bath, and a marble lap pool, it’s ideally suited for a modern-day Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI that require a secluded and sumptuous place to entertain.

Hi Karen, As is always so with your postings, I enjoyed reading your post about the listing in the Place Des Vosges. However, I was totally fascinated reading the story about the Camondo family and their museum that you posted the link to. I’ve been to Paris several times; however, I unfortunately had not heard of this particular museum. Once this pandemic is over and we can all start traveling again, I’ll definitely visit this museum if I ever make it back to Paris. Thanks! Bill
