From Humble Beginnings to Humble Brags as Collin County Leader

Ebby Halliday Realtors first began expanding “into the boonies” in the early 1970s. At that time, the northern exurb of Plano was a sleepy farming community transforming itself from cotton fields to tract and custom homes. Plano was large, equal in area to that of Richardson and Carrollton combined (both already had Ebby offices), and ripe for growth.

It was a natural location for the company’s next and seventh office, and the brokerage was among the first to jump on the Plano bandwagon. The first office was a temporary building while the actual office was being built (with plumbing!), and since it was the only place with a coffee pot for miles, builders would all stop by for coffee. Of course, it all made for some mutually beneficial relationships.

Ebby Halliday Acers’ philosophy at the time was to begin giving before she began prospecting. The brand was a good neighbor from the get-go, immediately becoming an indispensable community partner by sponsoring youth sports, investing in the local chamber and more.

Folks apparently took – and are still taking – to this approach, and today have placed enough trust in the area’s agents that Ebby is the No. 1 brokerage in Collin County for 2020 … by a lot.

Today Ebby Halliday has seven offices in Collin County. According to North Texas Real Estate Information Services (NTREIS), the brand represented 1,493 sellers and 1,449 buyers there last year.

“In the past year, we’ve seen Collin County experience double-digit growth both in closed sales and price appreciation,” said Ebby Halliday Companies President & CEO Chris Kelly, himself a Collin County resident. “Given the relatively diverse price points available in the various communities of Collin County, this strong real estate market will continue. With the additional business relocations and population migration coming into Collin County, we are certainly seeing a very high-level demand for single-family housing.”

Some of the homes available to meet that demand include the following.
