Grab a Toy And Fill Sadie’s Sleigh at The W

Sadie Keller is a cancer survivor, but she’s not letting that part of her life define her. Instead, Sadie is working to make sure other kids getting treatment for childhood cancers feel loved during this season.

You see, in 2015, Sadie asked her oncologist if Santa Claus would know to come to the hospital on Christmas Eve. She was worried he would go to the homes of the kids receiving life-saving treatment instead of delivery presents to them in their rooms, leaving them without the joy of a gift from Santa himself on Christmas morning.

Since then, Sadie has beat cancer and she wants to make sure all of these children in North Texas hospitals aren’t left out when Christmas comes around. That’s why the young and generous girl founded Sadie’s Sleigh within the Sadie Keller Foundation. Sadie’s Sleigh makes sure that any child fighting cancer over Christmas would still have a special day.

Last year, Sadie received more than 16,000 toys to distribute to other kids with cancer at Christmas. Her goal is to distribute 20,000 toys on December 13.

“It’s been a tough year. This Christmas, I felt compelled to help Sadie’s cause,” said Mike Schmelzer, a resident owner at the W who hopes to raise $5,000 by tomorrow for Sadie’s Sleigh.

Schmelzer is accepting donations of cash and toys, and Sadie’s organization will send charitable contributon receipts. You could also drop off toys for Sadie’s Sleigh in the box in the lobby of the W’s South Tower, and Schmelzer will include them in his hand delivery on Dec. 13.

To contribute to Sadie’s Sleigh:

  • Drop off a toy in the box in the lobby (or give to the concierge) at the W’s South Tower.
  • Visit the GoFundMe page to contribute an amount to go towards the purchase of toys. (Tax receipts will be available for all cash donations.)
