A Renovated MCM Masterpiece on Strait Lane

Built in 1966, this week’s High Caliber Home, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans is a beautifully-classic midcentury modern home that’s been renovated by one of the hottest architects and designers in town.

The 3,921-square-foot home on Strait Lane Circle was renovated by Russell Buchanan Architecture and Joshua Rice Design. Buchanan is the design mind behind the Mockingbird Lane box house — a home that raised the eyebrows of nearby Highland Park residents and plenty of passersby for its bold design. But this home listed by Jennifer Rice of Compass RE Texas already had beautiful design — Buchanan just made everything better.

“[Buchanan] expertly balances serene warmth with resolute modernism,” Rice says. “He truly has a strict attention to detail and commitment to refinement.”

Glass, wood, stone, and sharp lines — that describes this drop-dead gorgeous home in a nutshell. But this is CandysDirt, we love the details.

For instance, the German-crafted Bulthaup kitchen features a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer—each with pull-out drawers, Dacor gas range, and Miele dishwasher. Of course, Bulthaup is known for its functional, ergonomic designs so everything in this modern white and tan kitchen just works.

On the other side of the step-up kitchen and dining area, there’s a second living area with a fireplace and a wall of built-in shelves and cabinets, practically begging you to pull a book off the shelf and cozy up reading.

Speaking of cozy, the owner’s suite features a sitting area and dual sliding glass doors that extend your living space to the lushly landscaped patios.

Particularly impressive is the owner’s bath with frameless shower, custom tile, and walk-in closets with custom closet systems. Peer out the dual sink countertop to the cozy covered patio that echos the lines and stonework of the serene Japanese-inspired garden designed by noted gardener John Powell and an impressive outdoor living area by Harold Leidner.

The interiors are finished and furnished with unique modern selections of art, curated by Joshua Rice and Ree Willaford of Galleri Urbane that includes paintings, prints, sculptures and more. The thoughtful selection of art and furniture is available for purchase with the home at an additional cost.

10848 Strait Lane Circle is listed by Jennifer Rice of Compass RE Texas for $2.55 million.
