We are very excited about this American traditional in Devonshire. You know how fast luxury rental property moves in Dallas. When you see something, say something — like “Where’s the contract, I’m ready to sign!” While you can find some choice among high-rise luxury leases, the market tightens up considerably on single-family residences in great areas.

We believe this American traditional is one of the original homes in the neighborhood. Built in 1947 and wrapping the corner of Southwestern and Chadbourne, it started life as a single-story residence.

There are wonderful references to the house in The Dallas Morning News archives, where it was described as “chock full of extras” as far back as 1958. It’s been beautifully remodeled and expanded over the years and is a testament to why you don’t tear down an original. It’s tough to build in character.

The layout makes you feel right at home with the traditional placement of the formal living and dining rooms off the entry. Then you get what everyone wants right now, the large open-plan family room. French doors lead to a covered and screened porch that centers around a lovely stone fireplace.

One of the most challenging features to find in a luxury rental property are a lot of bedrooms, and this American traditional has plenty. Imagine moving your big family to Dallas, with four kids who are now starting new schools and making new friends. Having plenty of space always makes transitions a bit easier.

With 4,033-square-feet, six bedrooms, and five bathrooms in this home, everyone has room and privacy, plus room for an office and a guest bedroom so grandma and grandpa can stay and make everything better.

That’s especially true of the master retreat. It’s nicely secluded on the first floor, away from the rest of the house. Upstairs offers a large game room, two bedrooms, and bathrooms as well as a killer craft room.

When you move to a new city with a family, you want to land in an area that is close to great shopping, an airport, and major highways. That’s Devonshire. You get the classic American neighborhood with Inwood Shopping Village a mere bike ride away. It’s a ten-minute drive to Love Field, twelve to the Dallas Arts District, and five to the Dallas North Tollway.

“It’s a great area for families,” Compass Real Estate agent Becky Frey said. “There are lots of kids on the block!” Frey has this American traditional at 5422 Southwestern Boulevard listed for $7,500 a month. It’s picture-perfect in every way.
