The late Ebby Halliday would be so proud.

Last week, we told you about the Dallas real estate companies voted Best Place to Work to work in DFW, according to research completed by the Dallas Morning News. The Ebby Halliday Companies, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, was named the No. 11 best place to work (in North Texas) in the Large Companies category of the Top 100 Places to Work.

The annual contest is produced by The Dallas Morning News’ research partner, Workplace Dynamics, who polls employees to measure the health of U.S. companies. This year, The Dallas Morning News surveyed 330 DFW companies employing a total of 154,197 people, to determine the 100 best. Results were determined by 78,960 responses, graded in performance metrics such as leadership, sense of mission, career opportunities, culture, and pay and benefits.

Ebby would be so proud of the company she founded as a one-woman office in 1945. Even as she neared the end of her life at 104, Ebby Halliday went to work. She would say, “Oh, work isn’t work unless there’s something you’d rather do!” When a client or acquaintance would inquire, “Does so-and-so work for you?” Halliday would nod her head affirmatively while gently correcting to say, “Yes, she works with me.”
