A Perfectly Cute House In A Perfectly Cute Location: University Manor

Share News:

Down off Northwest Highway, situated in between Skillman and Abrams, there’s a little slice of Pleasantville Heaven called University Manor. The streets are lined with big shade trees, lawns are trimmed and well-manicured, and people are always out and about.

A bike trail runs along Northwest Highway and connects to White Rock Lake if you head east and will take you under Northwest Highway, over Abrams and all the way to Mockingbird Station if you head west. Plus, the White Rock DART Rail station is within walking distance — perfect for commuters.

If you go by location alone, it’s one of the best in Dallas. Easy access to North Central Expressway and Interstate 635, and you could basically bike to NorthPark. Plust, there’s two Targets, an Alamo Drafthouse, Fireside Pies, Fuzzy’s Tacos, First Watch, Chipotle, Smallcakes, Five Below, and good ol’ Jake’s Hamburgers, which is definitely walkable.

It used to be bordered by a lot of nothin’ so the new development at Creekside and beyond is so very, very welcome. NOW, to get in University Manor for under $400K? Well that’s a feat in and of itself.

Introducing your golden ticket located at 7117 Wild Valley Drive. It’s a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, ranch-style house with an open feel, updates, and a lot of outdoor living space.

There’s a gorgeous flagstone deck covered with a cedar arbor that has a ceiling fan and heaters, plus it’s wired for TV and stereo.

Inside, it’s not 2019 updated, but there’s newer tile in a neutral palette that works. Dark hardwood floors run throughout the house and everything looks extremely well maintained.

Again, the bathrooms have been somewhat updated and the glass bowl on top of the custom tile countertop is a total space saver, pretty cool, and definitely something don’t see too often.

If you wanted to make this space more modern, it’s an easy fix – update the light fixtures and hardware. No big deal.

Here’s a stumper for us that we need answered by the expert in that era: how come in these older midcentury homes, the bigger bathroom isn’t the master? If you know, comment below. And if it’s something we should know, um, we totally do, we’re just testing you.

This house also features a built-in desk in the living room, refaced top cabinets in the kitchen, granite countertops, and a utility room.

If it were us, we’d buy it for the location alone. As Tina Turner said, it’s simply the best. Stop by and take a look this Sunday, November 24. It’s open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Blair Hudson with Allie Beth Allman has 7117 Wild Valley Drive in University Manor listed at $385,000.

Candy, Thanks for noticing! I truly LOVE THIS HOUSE. Just waiting for new buyers. Owner was transferred to Austin or they wouldn’t sell.
