What location or area do you primarily build in? What about the location makes it especially attractive?

Preston Hollow, Park Cities, University Parks, and Highland Park — these areas have been where our clients have resided and have continually shared their experiences with their neighbors.  Almost all of our two decades of projects have been referrals.  And we’ve been grateful to work with them all.

What’s your go-to architectural style? Traditional? Contemporary? Old World? Modern?

Transitional and Contemporary. We continually look for leading-edge trends as well as functionality and style that will stand the test of time. 

How does your company provide value to your clients?

We walk the client’s home project from the very first vision, through the design, completely shop the job and create their budget, general contractors to their project till final move in, and also assist with all the decor and interior furnishings for their new custom home.  We are truly a one-stop service.  It is something that has continued to set us apart from most other construction companies

Have you received any recent awards? What for? From whom?

We have just received D Magazine’s Best Builder Award, 2019.  We’ve been a consistent award winner since 2011.

Considering the competition, how does your brand distinguish itself?

Consistently, our artisans have produced the most excellent products.  Each holds great applause within their specific trades.  We’ve been privileged to have loyal workers and have longstanding relationships with them all. This greatly benefits our clients and creates new working relationships between them as well.  Susan Newell Custom Homes, LLC takes great care of their homeowners, long past their move-in, or even extending past their home warranty.

What does being a member of the Dallas Builders Association do for you and your business?

We are new members and have already seen the benefit of resources that are shared, in the form of continuing education, as well as new working relationships. We look forward to participating in many of the upcoming events and joining the forces for creating better projects.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the current market? What are you doing to overcome it?

Availability of inventory for our owners’ preferred areas. Cost is a variable, but more challenging is the opportunity to open properties. Susan Newell has key relationships that assist her in finding the specific locations for her clients, which really helps in offsetting this issue.  The network of resources is really integral in meeting this challenge and ending in successful solutions for our custom home clients.
