Share News:

As of 12:30 p.m. tonight, the petition started by Buckner Terrace resident Abbi Reynolds has expanded to 500 signatures. Abbi lives adjacent to the Timberlawn property and fears for her property values, as do many residents in this area (Parkdale, Lawnview).

Wonder why they don’t consider a hotel for sale, here’s one that is centrally located. http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/portfolio/11817129/

I will bring this to the City Manager’s attention.

The petition is nearing 1,000 folks signing in less than a week! While there is much hatred, name calling etc. One neighborhood should not be torn apart by inserting a homeless shelter in the middle of it. Timberlawn is the farthest distance from the both NE and SE Police Substations in the East Division. No Service buildings by the City of Dallas other than a Park, Pool and Library. Wrong Location for this to be helpful long term for the homeless!

If you are against having a shelter next door to your new home like me, you should voice your concern to your city council person. This is Kevin Felder, City Council District 7. His email is: [email protected]. You can also email Mayor Mike Rawlings directly from the city hall website.

I’m all for creative homeless solutions; in commercial or industrial areas, not residential. The vote is on 8/22, so communication needs to happen now.
