You’ll be asking yourself, “Did I take a wrong turn at Kerrville?”  Nope -— it’s Westworth Falls. (photos: Lee Nicol Interests, LLC)

Raise your hand if you knew that 10 minutes from downtown Fort Worth was one of the few natural waterfalls in the Dallas-Fort Worth.  I don’t see many hands raised.

In the ongoing quest to educate as many Dirty Readers on Fort Worth, I bring you the new neighborhood of Westworth Falls.

Famous Heritage of Westworth Falls

Westworth Falls is a parcel of land consisting of 28 acres located off Westworth Boulevard (Hwy 183) near Roaring Springs Road.  Technically in the city of Westworth Village, residents will feed into nearby Fort Worth ISD schools.  It was recently developed by Lee Nicol Interests, LLC of Fort Worth.

After a good Texas rain, the Falls can really get moving

Prior to becoming a 77-lot residential gated development, the land has a intriguing history.  The legendary Will Rogers of movie, vaudeville, newspaper, and other talents was once thought to have owned this property.  He used it as a pecan tree farm.

In the early 1940s, the land was part of the Carswell Air Force Base and housed the Base Commander.  That home still stands on the property.  If you ever have opportunity to  venture inside the home you’ll see it holds an elevator … strange for the 1940s

As the story goes, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was pals with Amon Carter and would come to Cowtown from time-to-time to visit his friend.  When FDR would come he would stay at the house, and since he had issues walking, they installed an elevator in the home.

Most recently, the property was used as a horse farm.

Today this area is a new community where Toll Brothers and local Fort Worth builders Ramsey & Shaw as well as Village Homes are creating a luxury subdivision.

Part of the community is a fantastic seven-acre open field park completed with playscapes, walking paths, shaded rest areas, and a deer feeder.

The Falls

When I first set eyes on this property it was populated by horses, goats, and a few slurpy dogs.  I was amazed at how hidden the land was — and yet so close to so many local attractions.  Then I saw the Falls.

As you know, Fort Worth has the Trinity River running through it in various places.  One such place is behind Westworth Falls.  There is immediate access to the Trinity Trails and only steps away is one of the few natural waterfalls in the area.

Many seasoned Fort Worthians don’t even know about the Falls!  They are absolutely beautiful.  This area is literally 10 minutes from Downtown Fort Worth and yet one of the most scenic and peaceful places in the entire city.

If you are seeking a luxury neighborhood with new homes, private access, one-of-a-kind features and an unbeatable location, go and see Westworth Falls…you’ll thank me!
