Unique Uptown Townhome on Gilbert Offers Plenty of Light and Views

One of my favorite lines from Dirty Dancing is when Patrick Swayze saunters up to Frances “Baby” Houseman, who is sitting at a table with her family, and says, rather iconically:  “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”

However, I have a small issue with this. Perhaps he should have asked her if she wanted to be there? Maybe Baby wanted to sit in the corner? What’s wrong with corners, anyway?

Sometimes, in fact, corners are fantastic. Especially if we’re talking about corner units. That’s part of what makes our High Caliber Home of the Week sponsored by Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans so fantastic. It’s a deliciously bright corner unit townhome in Uptown, and it offers a perfect rebuttal to Johnny’s declaration (though after that hot number on the stage at Kellerman’s, we forgive him).

“This is not the ‘cookie cutter’ townhome you see so often in Uptown,” says listing agent Phillip Murrell of Dave Perry-Miller Real estate. “Due to the corner unit floor plan, large windows, and soaring ceilings, the living space feels bright and open.”

Check out those French doors flanking the fireplace, offering views of the pool. They really let the light in, which shows off the gleaming hardwood floors that cover the first level of this three-story townhome at 4511 Gilbert Ave.

Unit #102 has two bedrooms and a third-floor study, two full and one half bathrooms, and a two-car garage. This great townhome with 1,554 square feet is on the market for $349,900, or $225.16 per square foot. HOA dues are an entirely reasonable $466 monthly.

I can easily see someone moving in who wants to take advantage of a fabulous urban location.

“The location is optimal,” Murrell said. “The future owner will enjoy the ability to walk to Whole Foods or take a stroll through Highland Park. Both are only blocks from your front door.”

While there is some room for improvement — the kitchen could be opened up and the master bath could use a remodel — it’s a perfectly livable, excellently located, bright and airy townhome that Baby and Johnny could waltz, mambo, or lambada through. Easily.
