Custom Contemporary in Grand Prairie Offers Luxury Upgrades, Affordable Price

As more and more people hunt for affordable new construction in North Texas, and as more and more builders look for the right lots to build, once-overlooked suburbs are starting to shine. Take the Midcities’ own Grand Prairie for instance. That’s where you’ll find this great transitional design with contemporary flair built by CAVSO Homes and marketed by David Maez of Vivo Realty.

Grand Prairie has seen a building boom, with more businesses seeing the advantage of being located between Dallas and Fort Worth, especially with the finished George Bush Turnpike in play. The city of Grand Prairie, which is a long, narrow strip poised between Dallas and Arlington, has become very attractive to developers, according to a report from NBCDFW (Channel 5)

The bevy of new businesses, including an IKEA, a Wal-Mart and a massive water park and fitness center complex called “EPIC,” going up are all within one mile of one another.

So Grand Prairie is seeing a lot of growth, which is easy to see from this list of upcoming openings.

“CAVSO specifically chose Mid-Cities and Irving locations to start building their product to allow for more affordable price points in areas that are poised for big growth,” Maez noted. But you won’t find just any builder-grade, boring design with this brand.

“One of the reasons why I enjoy working with CAVSO Homes is that they add upgrades typical of luxury homes, like tray and cathedral ceilings, soft-touch modern kitchens, LED lighting, and more at affordable prices,” says Maez. What I love about their designs, and this home at 2425 Greenwood Dr. in particular, is that it has some throwbacks to traditional architecture with pops of contemporary flair throughout. A concentrated focus has been put on livable space, so you won’t see rooms without dual purposes, or windows that don’t offer light or views.

“Every floor plan is built for living, so all space is maximized and every room is built with the home owner in mind,” Maez said. You get that vibe right from the front door, with a built-in cabinet for all of your dash-out-the-door storage.

“Each home is unique and custom,” Maez said, “so the buyer is really getting a custom architect-designed home at a great value!”

Speaking of design, we love the elements in this home that offer plenty of texture and appeal without overpowering the spaces.

In all, you’ll find four bedrooms, two full and one half bath, and more than 2,500 square feet with a two-car garage. Just to the right of the entry is a study — the room you see as the stone-covered bump-out from the exterior — which can double as a bedroom. Personally, I think this would be a fantastic home office, though if you need an additional first-floor bedroom, this would be great for guests.

Just to the side of the office or spare bedroom is the first downstairs bath. The shower stall is large, but not so big that it overpowers the space. I love the mix of stone and wood here, which draws the eye to the vanity but offers enough visual interest to let the shower wall and floor speak for themselves.

From there you go down the hall to the kitchen and living space, which is open without being cavernous. I think it’s perfectly scaled for a family, with tons of light. Recessed lighting, custom cabinetry, and on-trend finishes make this area feel perfectly custom. Plus, you can still pick out your own appliances for the kitchen, which is a huge bonus in my book!

If you weren’t expecting this level of design for a home marketed for $390,000, then perhaps its time to adjust your expectations?

“Some of the architects in the CAVSO team have won international awards, and have been featured in design publications, like DWELL, so it’s pretty exciting that custom doesn’t have to mean expensive,” Maez said.

We definitely agree! And we are smitten with this master suite, which is located on the first floor. French doors open to a private patio, and you get a beautiful tray ceiling and gleaming hardwoods. You also get a five-piece bath with extra storage, as well as an enormous walk-in closet.

Upstairs, you’ll find two additional bedrooms and a shared bath, plus a great little balcony.

As you can see, there’s lots to love about this new build and Grand Prairie. Could this CAVSO Home be what seals the deal on your move to the Midcities?
