New Lakewood Contemporary | CandysDirt.com

The new Lakewood contemporary at 6967 Kenwood Ave. is one of our three featured open houses this week.

Land value near White Rock Lake, especially on the southeast side, has skyrocketed in value in recent years. So much so that lots of older homes are being torn down to make way for new construction.

The new Lakewood contemporary that tops our Dallas open houses roundup is an example of that trend. This house is one of three we’re looking at today, which range in price from $339K to $1.299 million.

The new Lakewood contemporary at 6967 Kenwood Ave. is built by Keen Homes, completed this year. It’s a marvelous design, with soaring ceilings, and memorable modern design elements, like the iron-and-wood staircase in the double-height entryway and stone-and-wood oversized fireplace in the living area. This home has four bedrooms, five full bathrooms, one half bath, two living areas, and 4,284 square feet on two stories.

The first story is an open floorplan with one impressive space leading to the next. The oversized kitchen offers white flat-front cabinetry, white quartz countertops, a large island with breakfast bar, modern tile backsplash, a butler’s pantry, and high-end stainless steel appliances, including double ovens and a gas cooktop. From the living area, a disappearing sliding glass door creates a seamless flow from the living area to the outdoors. Outdoor living area includes covered patio and fireplace in a pool-sized backyard. The huge master suite and three bedrooms are upstairs, along with a game room. A downstairs study could be used as a fifth bedroom. It’s also zoned for the award-winning Lakewood Elementary, which earns a perfect score from greatschools.org

This home was listed June 9 by Timothy Schutze with Allie Beth Allman & Associates for $1.299 million.

Lochwood is one of the hottest neighborhoods in East Dallas for good reason: proximity to White Rock Lake, tree-lined streets, and still-affordable real estate. The home at 10516 Lake Gardens Dr. is updated to be open concept with great flow throughout the common areas, and the house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, and 1,591 square feet on one story, built in 1959.

Throughout the home, there’s fresh paint and the color palette is on trend and festive, as is the staging. It’s an appealing space, with parquet floors, and newer wood-plank hardwoods, too. The second living offers a fireplace for coziness and there’s access to the patio from that room. The yard is newly fenced and has a patio. The owners are putting a new roof on this month. Bonus: It’s in the attendance zone for Reilly Elementary School, which earns and “8” out of 10 from greatschools.org

This home was listed July 5 by David and Sharon Cox with Dallas City Center Realtors for $339,000.

The Greenland Hills Tudor at 5510 Monticello Ave. is in the heart of the M Streets, and she’s a beauty. Updated in a way that complements the home’s era, the property offers original stained glass, leaded glass doorknobs, hardwood floors, and an original fireplace, and gorgeous kitchen. This home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, and 2,430 square feet on two stories, built in 1926.

All the bedrooms are downstairs, and an additional living area could be a home office. The reimagined kitchen features Carrerra Marble countertops, tons of white cabinetry, white subway tile backsplash, and high-end stainless steel appliances, including a convection oven and gas range. Upstairs, there’s an additional 450 square feet of living space, perfect for a game room. The home has a two-zone HVAC system, and the downstairs system was replaced in 2016.

This home was listed June 9 by Alan Hamilton with Dallas City Center Realtors for $659,900, reduced yesterday to $649,900.
